cw8: So for the main quest:
******* SPOILERS *******
Who did you guys side with?
********SPOILERS********
well, my first playthrough was...interesting.
Basically, I started out wanting to side with the NCR, but events rapidly overtook me to the point where I made New Vegas independent. I chased Benny down to the Legion encampment, where, despite me killing them by the bucketload beforehand, had pardoned me. From there I upgraded the robots and, being the ruthless pragmatist I was, had Benny crucified (my Unarmed and Melle were shit, and I wanted vengence), got the Platinum Chip back, went to Vegas, decided I was not going to be talked at by a bossy computer screen, refused to give Mr. House the Chip, was forced to killed all the Securotrons present (House turned them on me, even Victor), found Mr. House's chamber, unplugged him, installed Yes Man in his place.
From this point on, the NCR were inconsolable. So I got the help of the boomers (rusty old bombers FTW), the help of the Khans, ignored the Brotherhood, although only by virtue of me inadvertantly breaking the quest chain by trying to do Veronica's quest and have a change in management at the same time. By this point, I wanted to see how flexible the game was to me doing random shit, and to my gratification, not only did I manage to kill Caesar, but it got mentioned by Mr. NV, and even got a mention in the final quest. Killing him was a bitch though, since all the guys in his tent are melle, so I had to dash in, dash out, run, grab my rifle and pick them off as they emerged, and hope they did not converge on me too quickly.
Through a series of events (Cass' goddamn sidequest) I ended up with neutral rep with the NCR, so in the final battle I was joined not only by the securitrons and the Khans, but also by the neutral NCR defenders. Killed the top Caesar dude, told the NCR general to piss off, New vegas stayed independent, ended the game with fairly high Karma. (I'd like to think I played it as a good person who had a ruthless streak of pragmatism, as well as being somewhat blinded in the name of vengence)
Whitecroc: (Spoilers)
-made Primm Slim the Primm sheriff
Aliasalpha: You can DO that?? I'm putting that on the top of my list next time
Oh I did that as well, the game seems to think it is ultimately for the best, certainly better than the NCR martial law, anyway (have never tried installing the ex-sheriff.)
Whitecroc: Obviously there were a number of choices as well that the developers seemingly forgot to put in an epilogue for, but I suppose that's fine.
Well, it was a million billion times better ending than the FO3 one, thats for sure.
