Summit: Bullshit. I have had enough now. People want to hate this? Fine. Don't start making lies about it. Finding the Sheriff for Primm, Calibrating Fisto, The Kings there is no end to how this game is FAR, FAR superior to Fallout 3.

Not to mention the quest with getting rid of the ghouls from REPCON facility. The ending is just epic. Comparing to NV F3 quests were just boring.
Beyond the Beef > sidequests thus far I've played so many choices, heck you can even cook your companion! Talk about craziness. Not to mention it's creepy + the music for the place..

There's also the Boone wife kidnap sidequest, Vault 22 etc.

Also the radio spot with NoBark "Its ghouls! religious ghouls in rockets lookin fer a land to call their own"

Yeah, though they keep repeating that till I'm really sick of it.
I love it that they play Vivaldi's "Winter" in the White Glove casino.

I was sick of the endless repetition in the radio within 3-4 hours of play (and that johnny guitar song on 2 stations, ugh!). Its the biggest weakness of both 3 & NV for my money

There are several radio extenders now including a port of GNR More where that came from. Makes a huge difference when Mr Vegas chimes in only every 6th song and has 100 tracks to shuffle from.

Yeah I enjoyed Beyond the Beef as well. Also got through Vault 34 last night and while there was no real backstory it's easily the hardest Vault of both games. Maze+underwater+constant radiation+lots of Glowing Ones = ouch.

Underwater is okay if you have the rebreather. Shame you can't wear that AND the rad suit so you have to choose between air & radiation

Aliasalpha: The 5 essential mods link listed a few pages back have some good ones, nice to have more than 3 conversation options on screen and the renderer change is also pretty nice

This UI mod is just exellent. Do yourself a favour and try it. Even though it's beta everything works great and looks so much better.

I'm really enjoying the quests and sidequests. Though I've to say, combat is bullocks. Typical of the Bethesda's game engines, everything simply becomes hack and slash in the end. Morrowind, Daedric Armour + Glass Sword, hack and slash everything at high levels. Oblvion, play for 4 hours then I quit the game looks to be slightly enhanced from Morrowind but still boring hack and slash. Fallout 3 I boycotted. Fallout: NV's combat is also more or less along the line.

I took out a Deathclaw with melee without wearing any armour, just Elvis's jacket:

Well it's not Oblivion bad that was really boring beyond belief with every NPC and player doing exactly the same combat moves. It's an improvement over Fallout 3 and the Iron Sights to help a lot. It's never going to be a proper FPS though because no matter how they decided to hide it there are still dice rolls going on under the hood.

Also don't mention Deathclaws please... they are a lot harder than they were in Fallout 3 and that Alpha Male in the Quarry took me out in 2 swipes -_- then again I hardly ever bother with melee and I really should with them as I hear the cattle prod is very useful against them.

Nope, I was hoping for combat that makes you think with lots of stats, dice rolls and strategy/tactical goodness in it. I can't be bothered with the least about FPSes though I do play shooters. Turn-based combat of the old FO1&2 comes to mind. One reason I dislike most Bethesda games is because of their butt boring, mindless, hack and slash combat especially more so at high levels.

I'm using Super Sledge. I like mauling them and seeing them fly in the sky like a baseball. Though of course, a normal Deathclaw can still take me out with armour in 3-4 hits. Just that I dun give them a chance to.

Do the quest for Doctor Henry in Jacobstown to get the unique Super Sledge aptly called Oh Baby! It's damage is through the roof.

Yeah, I thought the selection was a bit weak. It's not a bad song, but it gets way over used in the game. Same goes for the one about the Texas ranger with a big iron on his hip. It's a good song, but they don't have enough songs to dilute it out to something reasonable.

Not sure that there's a good solution as the game takes like a whole work week to complete if you don't know exactly how to do everything and where to go.

Red_Avatar: Which shows perfectly how badly made the map is by nicely making everything evenly spaced. A real map wouldn't work like that at all - it is artificial and badly thought out. Anywhere you look, you see points of interest - and more than one too. It feels like you're going from node to node, instead of exploring a world.

stonebro: Wow. An artificial world sometimes feels artificial. I never saw that coming.
Weak argument is weak. Maybe we should replace the FO3 locations with icons eh? And maybe remove all the detail and textures because it's artificial? Because basically that's what you're saying and it must be the dumbest thing I've heard all day. How about at least trying to mimic the reality of a big world to explore?
i just bought fallout new vegas, i was playing it quite happily then pausd it to make my tea, it was paused for all of 10 mins, i then turned it off to eat said tea. When i turned it back on the xbox console said the disc is unreadable, i checked the disc and there is a pause ring on it, i tried cleaning it to no avail. Can anyone offer any advice on how i might fix this prob withouthaving to buy a new game.

You can't exchange it? I'd think that if it were that new you ought to be able to at least take it back for an exchange.

Are pause rings really something which happens on Xbox? I guess I'm glad that it's not an issue on PS3.
