Weclock: hey could at least do 3rd person that switches into iso
I was surprised that they're ditching the third person mode, to be honest. I suppose it's because of all the glitches and exploits that resulted from its use in Fallout 3. Personally I only ever used it to see what my character looked like wearing something, to be honest. It wasn't even beneficial for melee combat.
Isometric would be even more problematic and thus very restrictive in terms of the environments they could create. It would have been extremely difficult to make both modes work in multi storey environments, for instance.
The more things like that which Obsidian includes, the more things that are likely to go wrong. Personally I think they're right to focus on making one solid gameplay mode rather than several less effective modes.
I just hope they do a better job with the combat and collision detection than Bethesda did. I suppose that's one good thing about having id on board now. Maybe next time Bethesda will call on their FPS expertise to get it right.
