infinite9: Facebook can do whatever it wants with gender options. It doesn't change the fact that the lack of Y chromosome makes a woman a woman nor does it change the fact that the existence of a Y chromosome makes a man a man.

uruk: I through everyone started out as a female by throwing in a copy of pokemon y into the gene pool and then you get a male when you throw in a copy of pokemon x into the mix.
That's unfair for those of us who either haven't played pokemon, or rather like me, quit it outright.
What is this thread about?

The same old GOG forum sophistication you've come to know and love.

Apparently, a social networking site is allowing people to describe themselves.

Lucky for you we have just the system in place to deal with this kind of thing.

*Lays down a big stack of paper* Once you fill out all of these forms. take them to the kobold in room 666 and then he will sign them and you can then take it 616 to finish filing the request. Just watch out for mr green the troll. Who likes eating paper for some reason and also lately we have been having trouble with random portals to hell spawning inbetween room 666 and 616. i have a team of experts looking into the cause of this as we speak!.

Alymay: nope the spiders can't find anything.

Me: .... Good thing i also put someone else on the case.

Witch: *crawling on the ground, dragging his body over to me.* Good.... Day.... boss...

Me: Yes and your report?

Witch: Well, boss it seems a blood mage left behind a blood stone. Then somehow the stone start opening portals on its own.

Me: You fixed things correct?

Witch: yess..... I stop the opening of more portal and closed the ones that were open. now can someone help me. I'm dying here!

Me: you're all ready dead.

Witch: Oh yeah. *stands up perfectly fine*

Me: *face palm* Sometimes i wonder why i keep you around.

Witch: Easy boss i can do magic and swing swords! like this! *opens a portal.*

Me: Wait don't! fucking hell, now i have to close another portal to hell.

Witch: opps sorry about that boss.

Me: .....

Darvond: I know this is entirely rude (and probably 'incorrect'), but if I were running a company, I'd restrict it to biological choices.
What does that even mean? Even if you ignore and erase gender identity and focus entirely on the 'biological' (I assume by "biological" you mean "of external physical appearance"), there's still more than the rigid binary of "male" and "female". Intersex people, for example.

That simply isn't true. Chromosomes are not an absolute determinant even of physical sex characteristics, never mind gender. There are intersex people. There are also cisgender men with XX and cis women with XY.

infinite9: Things like "cisgender male" are completely made up bullcrap.
All words are ultimately "made up", and cisgender is no more "bullcrap" than heterosexual is.

Ah I see. yeah we can't have that, thats just anarchy and whatnot.

I am sharpening my torches as we speak.

It means I don't give a flying flip about gender identity and roles. And let's be frank here, if they're intersex, that's what the third option, 'other/N/A' is for.

Then why do you want to restrict how people express theirs?

I demand these options to be integrated into the next Elder Scrolls game character creation.
It should finally be possible to play as a gay but bi-curious transfeminine Argonian with non-binary two-spirit identity.

Yeah, but you know, I think it's weird that the social justice warriors (TM) are so concerned about letting people label their own gender identity except when it comes to "cis" people, they're throwing that label on them without giving a damn what "cis" people think about it.

It makes all the difference in the world whether you're in the privileged group or the oppressed one. And cis people are most emphatically the privileged group. Being cis makes me privileged - i.e. I don't have to put up with all sorts of horrible things which for almost all trans people, to varying extents, are inescapable and pervasive parts of life, from ignorant and rude questions about my genitals to a massively higher likelihood of murder or suicide. And having a label for the oppressed group and not the privileged one - having the word "transgender" but not having a corresponding word for people who are not trans - is part of the language of oppression.

That's why you (and I) don't get to complain about "cisgender". If you have a problem with being called cis, that says more about you than it does about the person using the word.

Oh, I see. Back to this marxist shit. Bottom line is that both social justice warriors (TM) and the people you are fighting refuse to treat people respectfully in that way. There is at least a 3rd group (if not more) which you do not allow for, apparently, but it nonetheless exists. It includes people that have nothing to do with your fight.

I don't "get" to complain about being labeled something that I don't want to be labeled? Who the hell do social justice warriors (TM) think they are to complain about privilege whilst simultaneously taking upon themselves the enormous privilege of defining words for everyone else, of defining the conflict the way they want and having the audacity to think the rest of us should unquestioningly do as they say? Do you not see how that's an enormous privilege?

No, **** that. I am not "cis gender," I refuse to call myself that and I do not give you any moral authority to call me that anymore than you have the moral authority to call someone a "tranny" when they do not want to be referred to in that way.
