I Yawn'd
Absolutely... positively... don't give a damn.
I don't care about the D&D part, I love co-op action RPGs like this. We need more of em. I don't know about this one, but I played Hunted at PAX and it was stellar. They had the co-op really down on it http://www.huntedthegame.com/en/media/videos/21
I wish someone would make a tactical RPG with the 4th Edition D&D rules.
OK so hunted looked beyond badass... graphically its smexy as all hell.... and this D&D crap looks like something from early 2000 what the hell?

Granted its got some serious WOW feelings in it but, it looks old and tired.. i'll end up buying it because i like games in that vein and cant help myself.. if i had to choose id go with Hunted... is it singleplayer too or co-op only? :(

But seriously Hunted, thanks this looks incredible!

Aliasalpha: Based on that incredibly short amount of actual combat footage (which looked like all results, I didn't see anything to indicate commands were issued during the fighting), this could be as much a twitchy fragfest as Alien Swarm, a balanced tactical and action affair or as tactical as Dragon Age, I suggest we keep our disappointment or frothing outrage until we see some real gameplay footage that lasts for more than 5 seconds on screen. At least give it the chance to disappoint us based on the game rather than shitty video editing (surely they've all heard that we want to see how the game actually plays rather than just seeing flashes of the graphics amidst a field of buzzwords).

Also, why the hell am I never the one CONTROLLING the skeletal horde? I always have to fight them rather than use them to cut a glorious swath of destruction on my path of world domination
Perhaps you'd like to play Overlord II?

I don't know if they give you an AI teammate if you don't have a co-op player or just scale the difficulty for one. The demo level at PAX had everyone playing co-op (early one day I saw the lead dev playing co-op with an attendee). I didn't get to speak to the lead much as he was super busy. At any rate, the game is definitely built with the idea of "Okay the tank should run in first and draw the fire from that ballista and the ranged nuker will sneak around the side and take him out".

Also if you go down you need your team-mate to rez you. I don't know if you caught it, but most shields in the game get destroyed over time. The archer chick in the video was running with one at one point that was nearly gone.

I am really excited simply because they seemed to get the co-op feeling really down. Instead of parallel play (what often happened in Diablo 2 and whatnot) you actually play together.

I like action RPGs, but my whole thing is that if you're going to use the D&D license then the game should play like a D&D game. Companies don't think that way though, they just care about marketing and brand recognition, not if it actually means anything.
While I do wish that they would make a true D&D game, I did enjoy Dark Alliance so I'll probably get this.

There were definitely D&D games that barely adhered to the D&D world but were still super fun (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dungeons_%26_Dragons:_Heroes is a great example).
D&D Tactics isn't too bad either, its fairly clunky but still fun

It's not about quality though. Think about it this way: if every game ever released from now until the end of time was an amazing and high quality shooter, would you be satisfied?

On the other end of the spectrum it is an amazing universe and vast lore that they can tap into, why not use it?

Because again, it's not about quality, it's about all games not being the same. We don't have many turn-based or pause and play tactical RPGs but we have a TON of action RPGs.

StingingVelvet: ...or pause and play tactical RPGs...
That a good thing, in my opinion. I find pause-and-play to be a horribly awkward mechanic. While I'd like to see more good turn-based games if it's a choice between queue/pause and action, I'll take the action any day.
