supercivilian: Speaking of building into bases...what was everyone elses strategy for Dune 2? Ya get creative or just send en mass (well as about as "en mass" as clicking one unit at a time can be)?
Well, I don't remember it all that well (the last time I played was between 7-10 years old), but I do remember a few things. Some of it was common to RTS, of course. I would drive over all of the rocket infantry with quads, I would send in decoy quads or trikes to attract the enemies massing troops, so that I could lessen their numbers or send a quick flanking counter, I built largely ineffective Sonic tank squads (just because they were so cool -- I would usually end up hitting myself eventually), and I would make ultimate defense systems... which would squander my resources... I think one of the last things I was trying to do was figure out how to make as few turrets as possible so that I could get my base to do most of the killing without overspending on one of the last missions... never succeeded yet, 12 years of unplayed Dune 2 later. Occasionally I would reposition bases, but I don't remember if I was ever successful.
