I forgot what you said originally.....are you getting it or later getting it on sale? Also I read it but I usually don't listen much to "pro" reviews anymore after seeing how obviously bought off or biased they can be to a favorite genre or platform.

Never . It's not a real DN game anymore .

So you're basing this on what exactly?

So you're not even going to give it a fair shot? Like watch gameplay vids or something? Not bashing ya just curious here.
As expected the game isn't doing very well. I suspect it has a lot to do with how it blatantly ripped off the Halo design philosophies when it was trying to be a totally different type of game. I'm betting the remake of Duke 3D will be better this then what we received.

Blame George for that then, not the other devs or GBX. It was all his idea to add those things in.
I've seen commercials for Duke Nukem Forever and heard the reviews but I'll decide for myself. I don't buy games when they first come out I prefer to purchase them on sale or after the price is dropped a bit. I plan on downloading the demo tomorrow or the next day at the library (my internet is being throttled to dial-up speeds by the phone company to try to get more money and I would really rather take my laptop to the library to download large files than pay them double what I pay now). If I like the demo, I'll watch some gameplay videos and I might pick it up later. It would suck if after working on the game for so many years most people hated it. On the plus side, if I like the game and everyone else hates it the price would drop quickly wouldn't it?

I'm really hoping that Gog will have a sale on the Duke Nukem games. I've been wanting to play them again for a while now and I missed the last sale on the Duke games Gog had (I didn't know even know Gog existed at the time).

The concept of blame is not conducive to reasonable discussion. Because it's useless.

Does knowing who to blame change whether or not the end result is an enjoyable affair? I say that it does not.

Blaming a person is useless because of how many times the game changed hands and how many people contributed to it. What can be blamed is trying to be a throwback to the old FPS then using regenerating health, 2 weapons, scripting out the ass and linear level design. Basically the anti-thesis of old school design if I ever saw it.

Those were mostly his decisions, and I do blame him as it was him calling the shots for the most part from day 1.....I also blame those who wanted the game rushed out instead of redone to a better level on both sides(Randy Pitchford and co on one side and many fans on the other.)

The game was not "rushed out" by any stretch of the imagination. It came out the way it did because Broussard was completely incapable of enacting a feature freeze and finishing what they had rather than constantly adding in new gimmicks or trying to tack on more visual effects to an engine that couldn't easily accommodate them (seriously, the engine's performance is downright awful, despite being ugly as sin, and that just shouldn't be the case).

Without a clear direction in mind or strong enough leadership to set reasonable goals and ensure that they get met, a project of this magnitude will never get finished. This isn't a game that would have benefited from more time, because there was too much work to be done and the tech was already on the verge of collapsing. Throwing more time at it got us where we are now, so I'm not sure why you think even more time would have helped at this stage. They were at the "shit or get off the pot" stage so Gearbox released it, knowing that the IP would sell the game no matter what, with plans to make the next game properly.

Kinda like how (or so I keep hearing) Valve decided to scrap Episode 3, and mash its content into the next full sequel, Half Life 3.

And me who thought the only reason it wasn't released yet was because were waiting for some DigiPen's students to come up with an idea they could buy and turns into Episode 3. (then again they would probably uses it for Portal 3 instead :-) )

That bit with the alien rape scene sounds tasteless and fucking disgusting, especially if he's right about every joke practically falling flat.
