Buying a bad game hopping that the sequel will be better... isn't that one of the few thing even less effective than online petition ?

That's pessimism speaking...you have no way of knowing that.
Normally this would be right but this is a game acquired and hastily thrown out the door by a different publishing house. Not one bad game made in a few years which is bad and then another made a few years later by the same publisher.

I'm pretty disappointed by the colour pallets in this game bar a few areas. Most of it decided to go swimming in the sea of brown and grey :'(

I like how the only people defending this piece of crap are from a place where it wasn't released yet. Be back in 2 days, and see how the s#!t hits the fans.;)

I'm surprised how much people want to bash this game even though they either didn't buy/play it yet, or they played it with the nostalgia glasses on too tight and they hype machine in full gear....thus making them heavily biased against it from the get go.
I've seen gameplay screens and that's bullshit.......yes the levels in some areas lack color variety but IMO that makes the areas more gritty and realistic. I'd rather have more realism than a kalidoscope of technocolor splashed everywhere like the inside of a clown's stomach.

I've played it (it's good to have dumb friends sometimes) and i didn't expect a DN3D 2.
I hope You'll entertain us with a review in 2 days, i'd like to hear some rational defense of this game. Not because it deserves any, but because a rational defense of DNF would be quite something. See You then!:)

OK, I just wasn't sure what precisely the games had in common, or whether you were meaning to comment on the multiplayer aspect.

I'm not presently in a position to make judgments about the final game as it hasn't yet unlocked.

The feeling I get is that what GR said about Serious Same likely applies. Don't take it too seriously, and just have fun. I doubt anybody could have fun with the game if they're going to spend most of their playtime analyzing where the development time went. Considering most of it went into changing engines. It is apparent that they did retain some of the stuff like the rail cars, which seems to have been a wise idea.

1st line: Deflection move....nice.

2nd line: Lying to one's self, how do you do that exactly while keeping a straight face?

3rd line: I play slow so it will take me a week or so to finish, if not more...though i'll be sure to fill everyone in on the good and BAD stuff I find.

4th: You make it seem as if i'm being irriational in my defense of the game so far......whereas I could posit you're being irrational in your criticisms of the game. ;)
If done too much I agree, but combine that look with some humorous props and one liners and it's not that bad.

It's hard for me to say for sure seeing as I haven't yet played. But the reviews I've seen have been bad. Not bad as in critical or giving a low score, but bad in that they aren't even reviews.

I've been keeping tabs on the threads, and some of the criticisms seem fair, assuming they're accurate, but a lot of it is whining by hipsters that are too cool for Duke. And those tend to then fill out the various fora.

I definitely could be wrong, my position has never been that DNF is a great game or even a good one, I haven't played it so I don't know. But a lot of the criticism is coming from people who didn't get the original series on any sort of deep level and just had fun with it. Which isn't wrong, in fact that's how I played the demo, but a lot of the expectations that people have going into the game were unrealistic. If you have a cynical view even before starting the program, I don't know any game that's going to be able to overcome that level of cynicism.

And yes, the game will be unlocked in a couple days, and I'll see how I feel after I play the game. But seeing as most of the people who hated the full game seem to be the same ones that hated the demo, I'm not sure what I can say about that.

I wasn't suggesting such a thing and I'm not saying there aren't some more colourful areas. I just think it's a shame because some of the areas quite suited the more brownish colour pallet, It's kind of lost when so many other areas turn out to be quite brown/grey and everything so muted. Yes it's one way to make things seem grits, and I appreciate they did it because it's then easy to stick in some splashes of more saturated colour to draw players attention, I wouldn't say it's realistic though. There's a lot of colour in the world and I don't just mean florescent rainbow type colours that might come from a unicorns backside.

Finished it over the weekend. Starting over to go through it more thoroughly and find all the hidden stuff.

Pretty chuffed I dare say.

I do wonder how much of the one sidedness of the debate isn't a result of all the people too busy playing the game to defend it.

Also, how dare you fail to hate a game that's apparently terrible. :-P

Done arguing for now. It's not a perfect game but I found myself just pinned to it and enjoyed the hell out of it. And hell, folk are welcome to attack this opinion with "It's shite lolololol, your too much of a fanboy to see how shit this game is gah, look at the reviews!". Yeah, whatever.

Not gonna join it for sake of arguing and trolling as there is no point trying to force folk to join "your side" of the argument. There is no sides, just opinions and I'm entitled to mine :)
