2. As you say the game is easy now and I can comfirm that even on Hard difficulty. Even if we disregard the 2 weapons, why is it made so easy?
Again a weird design choice.
Another thing I noticed is that in the start the levels are crammed with stuff, it seems the level design gets more and more bland
2. Probably something to do with the ego system.
3. GBX finished the remaining levels.......the rest were just polished by them and were mostly finished by 3DR back in the day.

One thing I forgot to mention is how I love Quake 3 as a FPS, that could be my core problem with speed.

BTW I urge people to buy this game for at least a good amount as even if you don't like it every dime will count towards a polished sequel that you might actually like more.

I like any genre if the game itself has good fun core gameplay and interesting mechanics.

So which would you have wanted? Not many buying the game but releasing it later after people lose interest & GBX possibly not wanting to make another one? Or them releasing an unpolished game early as they've done, which got many criticisms but might give them enough profit and incentive to make a serious attempt next time?

The title I put forth was a reference to Terminator 3: Redemption which came out a year after Rise of the Machines on ps2/xbox/gamecube. Redemption followed the same main story as Rise of the Machines but the gameplay and levels were much better. The title itself screams we're sorry for releasing that turd, here's the real version that we meant to make.
