The 90s were a dark time. When the X-men had a member that had biomechanical slugs for a stomach and Rob Liefield couldn't draw feet.
the xbox score is down to 55
wow the game does not even have saving[quicksave, save] function, its checkpoint based
@taczillabr (I should have quoted you, cause your the one I was replying to, but I hate quoting someone when I think I'm gonna be the next line)

$120.00 in their money maybe, which translates into $75.00 USD. (I just checked with a currency calculator)

so yeah, $60 for the game + $15 premium to import it doesn't sound that far fetched. especially since Brazil is one of those places where you can download whatever the hell you want to and the gov. wont do shit, so the only people who would be buying games at retail are the supper rich that don't give a shit about money and only do it as a status symbol.

StingingVelvet: Joystiq review is terrible, as were most of RPS' Alec Meer's comments today. Not the game quality stuff, I can tell from the demo the game is average at best. I am talking about the endlessly nauseating crap they write about political correctness and respecting women. The game is a parody, a joke for God's sake. It's like saying Caddyshack is a bad movie because the people in it are jerks and idiots.

The Joystiq one is especially bad because it acts as if the behavior in Duke3D was okay in the 90's, as if we have changed as a society so much in 10 years that slapping women around and playing with poop was okay back then, but not now. What 90's was that idiot living in?
I think this is part of why that comment about reviewers being held accountable was made. Back in the 90s, gaming in this genre wasn't as broad a market as it is now. Back then lewd humor or violence was less likely to cause a back lash that would affect the reviews.

Personally, I think women, particularly in America, need to just shut up about sexism, until they're ready to grow up and stop treating men like crap. It seriously impacts my willingness to help out when it's just a transparent ploy to take over the country.
too bad i had high hopes for this i tought the old duke was back
if you actually read the Joysiq & RPS reviews the only thing they complain about as far as the sexism stuff is that it is badly delivered and outdated to the point that most people wouldn't even get them.

and that constitutes all of 1-3 lines in those reviews, the rest of the reviews is about how shitty the game plays, it's technical issues, the retarded enemies, the worthless mini-games, the "ego" shield ... and so on. the only thing that I didn't expect was that Joystiq compared the game to bulletstorm instead of Serious Sam.

Sorry, had to mention Vagabond since it is Crusader and I have No Regret about this xD. This also had to be done XD.

As to DNF, played even more and I am happy with what I got - it's not perfect but helluva fun for me :)

The Joystiq review definitely contained a lot more than just 1-3 lines of bad mouthing the Duke for sexism. If you actually read the article, most of what's in there is based upon the reviewers tastes and very little of it actually relates in any obvious way to the game play.

Contrast that with the review in PC Gamer which focused a lot more on the actual game rather than the asinine views of the reviewer. The reviewer at Joystiq might ultimately be right, but it's dishonest to suggest that the "review" was a review as it was more of an editorial slamming the game without really basing it on anything which the reader can measure it against.

I'm not saying that the game is necessarily good, but let's be honest about the fact that the Joystiq article was written as an editorial and not as an actual review.

Wrong, the prices do sound wrong. If PC is $60, then the other two platforms should be $60 too.

That's why I don't buy consoles games here, I'm voting with my wallet, I'm only buying a few PC retail games and PC games from digital stores. Last week I've bought 20 games on Steam for half the price of a new PS3/360 game here. But one thing you're right about, only people who don't give a shit about money are the ones buying games at $120.

Sorry for off-topic guys, will stop it here. Here I am, waiting for Yahtzee's review. :)

have you researched imported pricing at all? go check "YesAsia" for how much they charge for bootlegged Japanese videogames, right now they are charging $86.99 for the Japanese version of Hunted: Demons Forge.

Japan's PC market is a total different setting, just ask Bansama about it. Sony and others kinda control Japan's market, and inflate PC prices to force the customer to migrate to consoles only.
Played for about 2 hours, really enjoying it so far. Old-school, but fun oldschool. Graphics is decent on PC with max details at 1920*1200. Maybe not Witcher 2 like, but still it does its job well.

Love the interactivity.

If it's fun old school then I'll be pretty happy. I personally, hate what has become of FPS in the modern era. I'm sure that I'll tolerate the recharging health, but ultimately it's a game, and from what I've read the spirit of Duke is in there, I just hope for the fun old school experience.
