I've been playing it for the past couple of hours and I got to say - it is fun for me. A lot of fun to play this game :)

Kabuto: I think you missed the point on how ridiculous the comment was. He said blocky like Duke3D. Duke3D is completely flat and has no blocks unless you're talking about the polygonal bosses in the N64 port.
The issue is that nowadays "blocky" is used for anything, be it low polygon count or pixelated/lowres graphics.

hedwards: Sigh, I wish Mr. Gog would stop eating my posts.

Graphics aren't blocky, I can't imagine how the full release graphics could possibly be worse than the demo graphics. Which I would have killed to have had in 1996. And probably well into the 21st century.

The demo was itself very linear, but it didn't have blocky graphics.

Indeed, I was thinking Duke 3D and all FPS of that era had a lot of blocky textures to them.

But, I think your interpretation seems better.

Indeed, hence the confusion. I think the notion that it's as blocky as something from the 90s is somewhat hard to believe. Especially since the demo, which was mostly finished a year or so ago, isn't particularly blocky. It would be nice if the graphics were better, but I didn't find them to be distracting when I was playing the demo.

So I played it for about an hour. The graphics aren't great, the gameplay is ok (not bad, but not amazing either), the boss fights were really disappointing.

But I like it and I'm having fun.

I frowned at a couple of overtly unnecessary sexual tones in the early game, but hey, it was ok back in 1996 (or whenever) so it's not a dealbreaker now.

From what I've played thus far, it seems to be extremely linear. I wouldn't mind a DLC or something that would add some more open maps, now that the game is finally done, but I'm not going to wait 12 years for it.
Frater....surprised a Duke Nukem game has sexual stuff in it.....mfw I have no face as it fell off from giggling.

I was just posting an opposing review to show that: A. There are good reviews for the game.....and B: reviews are a good jumping off point for basing one's purchase decisions but not everything.

Good lord 57 on the 360? In many ways it was designed for consoles. No wonder Randy Pitchford made his statement saying reviews don't matter.

Maybe they didn't have enough cash or time to pay that reviewer off?

Designed for consoles is an intent. Success is not assured.

Well yes Dragon Age 2 is testament to that.
