Probably because we're not completely addled with nostalgia. The demo was good and it showed the little bits of humor that made the DN3D such a fun game.

Personally, it's the little references and the fact that they actually let you take a piss in a toilet with a turd that makes it a gem.

I'll have to see how the full game is, but with what I've seen it's definitely promising. There's a lot more potential than there ever was with the original series.

Although I <3 that Duke 3D mod for Quake. Creepy as it was with all those Dukes running about.
Personally, the demo was largely what I was hoping for. I don't think that this game is really meant for FPS snobs and people that have been playing all the recent FPS games. The most recent FPS I can recall playing was either Far Cry or Doom3 and I'm too lazy to look up which was more recent. And I didn't play either of those for long.

This is more of a legacy piece meant for people who were playing long enough ago to remember the original series when it was new and for some of us that can actually recall and enjoyed games like the Catacomb Abyss and level editors that were more or less brainless tile drops.

But, the game does as far as the demo goes, allow you to do things which no other game I know of will. Take a piss, draw a dick with two balls on a white board.

I agree with that assessment. The nostalgia factor was definitely there, and it was a nice throwback. I have been through almost all of the Duke Nukem games (there were a few ports I missed here and there), and it was true to the core of what the original (3d shooter version that we are all referencing) was.

Will you be buying this game, or at least waiting before watching some gameplay vids to make a decision?

That was definitely my feeling. I remember playing these games way back and to be honest I was pretty much blinded by how cool all the references were to notice things like how inherently silly the boss battle at the beginning was. Sure it was silly, but for the universe and the Duke it was oddly appropriate.

But over all, the feeling I had was that they managed to nail the character of the games, even if it does turn out to be somewhat flawed in terms of the genre, it looks like they retained the aspects that I cared about.

Oh, the only way I will not get this game is if it completely blows in the reviews, and even then, I still may get it. I have already told myself anything over 4/10 and I will likely pick it up (even if it is a few months down the road.)

I am not sure when the last time was I bought a used PC game, lol. I will likely grab it from a digital distribution though (or Best Buy if I can ever find my damn gift cards.)

LOL. Don't be knockin' Best Buy's computer repair... Several of my clients are ex-Best Buy/Geek Squad clients. I figure the longer they charge outlandish prices for virtually no work complete, the more local customers will be willing to try my cheaper, more quality services.

Funny story, I once had them do a full mobo swap(old mobo for new and put components on new mobo) and they did it in store.....I go back a few months later and ask them to swap out the cpu ONLY for a new cpu...they say it has to be SHIPPED OUT for 3 DAYS........I said screw it and never did repairs by stores since. I've done all my own repairs since then.

The demo was actually horrible.

I will get it. Will wait for the inevitable heavy discount on the summer/christmas steam sale, but I will get it.
