ViridianGames: I was working at Origin back in 1995 and played it so I could give out hints on it over the phone. I thoroughly enjoyed it at the time, though now every time I try to go back to it I think, "Man, I wish this game had mouselook." That's not to say that the game isn't good and and isn't worth your time; you're just gong to have to learn the interface.
You worked at Origin? Wow! I envy you. Back in the day a game published by Origin was almost guaranteed to be great.
IAmSinistar: Oh yes, I adore System Shock 1 and dearly hope it will make it here. Played it again recently with the hi-resolution and mouselook patches, and those were all it needed it be perfect.
Could you perhaps point me to those patches? I'd love to have a go at SS1 with those (still have my SS1 CD version on prominent display :-).
On a side note, there are about three games I have on a wish list to be modified with hardware-accelerated 3D graphics and, to the extent it's necessary, get modernized controls. Those games are System Shock, Tomb Raider and Realms of the Haunting.
MiklCraw4d: I bought it (I'm part of the problem!) but only because I love GOG and have a near-infinite love of Deus Ex. I still have my original CD copy from when it came out, and I have it on Steam where I bought it at a ridiculously low sale price years ago, but seeing as Steam is the devil I thought I'd throw GOG a couple of bucks to buy some karma back.
But if there's anyone who didn't have it on GOG and *also* hasn't played it elsewhere... well, for shame!!
At this point, though, I think it'll take a deus ex machina to get the timer to run out...
My scientific estimate is that they have sold a CRAPLOAD of copies of Deus Ex. Still over two hours... geez...
A copy of Deus Ex in every pot, I guess.
I also have Deus Ex on CD, on Steam and here (although I paid a bit more :-).
