I own and have played a lot of both, and I'm telling you absolutely, get both!
But for now, if you have to choose...no, I don't know. They're both amazing. :)
Either would be great and you would not feel bad about getting either if you love Gothic and BG/NWN.
The Risen demo I guess I could understand if people don't like it. But like Dragon Age, it's got a lot of depth that only unfolds after quite a few hours of playtime, then you're hooked. Anyway, the game is beautiful and it is Gothic through and through, just with BEAUTIFUL visuals, improved combat, etc etc. There's not much else to say -- if you love Gothic, you need Risen.
Dragon Age surprised the hell out of me. I went in thinking I might not like it but I'm severely addicted. Everything is great: story, VA, music, dialogue (very well written, believable, and funny at times), etc. Combat is the real highlight for me. Some people dont like it I guess, but I cant get enough. I find it kinda combines multiple genres -- strategy, hack n slash, RPG, RTS, tactical, etc. Ever played Shining Force II? Imagine the turn-based style of that where you have to carefully consider each move with the real-time style of Baldur's Gate and the like. You'll be pausing fairly often, planning tactics, etc. If it sounds like your thing, dive in. It's addictive as hell. The DLC you don't really have to worry about -- I've made use of all of it and haven't found any of it essential. Plus, as for the storage thing, there's a good mod already for that. :)
(Regarding complaints: ignore hype, shit talk, etc. DA is just a damn good game and that's all there is to it.)
Both games have command console and mods.
Get both!! :)
