How do you check the download counter for specific platforms? Last I read the PC was like 330,000+, PS3 700+ and assbox 200+

There is a general counter on the main site here

It should be noted though that the demo is only available for Xbox Live Gold members. I assume most would have Gold membership if they have an Xbox but nevertheless there is some butthurt about that on the BioWare forums.

Well if I had an Xbox I would be a silver member and would be quite annoyed if a singleplayer demo punished me for not playing multiplayer games. That's kind of ass.
I want to know, why did they axe the finishing moves and instead add the stupid "exloding" enemies instead? It looks absurd, I'd MUUUUUUCH rather see my character randomly do an awesome looking animation from time to time, that makes me feel more powerful and badass rather then seeing ia stupid quick exploding enemy the same thing over and over, so boring.

I think they're either tied to special abilities or enemy rank. They are still in there, and certainly fire on elites. While it looks like a cinematic after killing the Ogre, that finishing move changes based on weapon type and class. Its used to illustrate that mages now have finishing moves too (rip in half with phantom arms) provided they land the last blow.

The majority of the demo has you fighting waves of grunts at lightning speed on easy difficulty. I don't know if they removed finishers completely from occurring on grunts or if it was just blink and miss it.

I do know that certain rogue moves triggered what looked like finishers during the ambush in Kirkwall while following Isabella.

Combat still seems a little fast for me, but I'm hoping given enough time my brain will catch up (there's a first time for everything).

With Gold Family it should be a no brainer, seriously it's less than an burger and fries and once a month.

And Gold members have ALWAYS gotten demos before Silver. It's been this way for years, perhaps not for games no one cares about, but anything big has always been Gold Members first.

Out of curiosity, why did they change it?
Seriously:

"From my viewpoint the DA:O ogre at normal was slightly tougher than the demo ogre. I saw many complaints last night on the boards saying the demo ogre was too hard."

The 2nd Ogre in the demo was too hard? WTH? I'm not trying to be an elitist here, but those people can't try out different tactics or strategy once they wipe?? And instead complain about it on the boards and then Bioware has a reason to simplify things even further? Madness! So if they found the demo Ogre hard, what would happen if they decided to sit down and play BG2: Throne Of Bhaal on Normal difficulty or another other old, classic console game one fine day? Proclaim that the world is ending and that pigs can fly?

I'm sick and tired of the games that I wanna really play get simplified, changed in genre, dumbed-down in difficulty, etc for these people. There's great satisfaction about completing a game that makes you think. Won't get that much anymore if this continues.

It's true there's great satisfaction in overcoming a tactical challenge, but that's apparently not the kind of thrill most gamers want now.
They want instant gratification through feeling powerful by wiping out weak enemies instead of having to think to beat tough foes.

That may be because they lack either the time or the patience to spend learning how to use tactics, or because modern FPS have made them used to easy games, or because they just play video games for mindless fun and not to exercise their brains. I have no idea.

The fact is, there are more of them than of us, at least in the eyes of developers, and therefore there's not much point in complaining about it.
At least with DA 2, there are higher levels of difficulty, and possibly even mods if that turns out not to be enough.
Well, tried to download it three times last night, the last attempt it didn't even start up, saying it was corrupted. This was after deleting everything I could find to do with it the last time I downloaded it. Left it downloading via steam and that seems to have worked at last, though of course I'm now at work so no time to actually try it out until tonight.
Tried the PS3 version last night, did anyone find the sound a bit off when you do Isabela's quest and enter the building for the final fight?
1. Played the demo for 20 minutes: Fight... Fight... Fight...
2. Quit the game and uninstalled it.

New combat system seems interesting but I'll wait for Diablo III.
Dragon Age 1 was good but i hate these endless enemy waves. Witcher 1 shows how to make fights interesting and memorable.

Yeah, They got it wrong. Less fights but more challenging ones. In Turnbase... wait! I am dreaming again. :-(

DAO pseudotactical fights suck.

I'm not convinced difficulty will save it, are there videos showing the differences? You can pretty much do everything with any of the 3 classes.

Every class has tanking skills, aoe skills, avoidance skills etc...

Dragon Age Origins really had to drum into you, pick your party and play to each class' strengths, or die. But DA 2 seems to have made class choice almost an aesthetic decision.

Also archers own, yet another class that does a 'mage's job' better than a mage can.

Feedback from console players. There were people who bought Dragon Age thinking it was Dragon Effect and were disappointed this was not the case.
