Twilight: You can do all this with facebook. Circles is a copy of friend lists, Hangout is a limited functionality facebook group.

Of course, you may set some groups for your friends, but choosing who can see that one particular photo of you and who can't is not as easy as it looks on Google+
Hangouts is for multiple video conversation among friends, and not for collecting people who share interests with you.
That's what I'm saying... these things are possible on facebook, but the interface is so clunky, that it's practically impossible.
And Hangouts really remind me of groups in one way. You also have a link that you have to click to enter a common chat room. It just doesn't have webcams. But since it is so easy to start a conversation and it goes public, it seems more useful on that google thing :)
