Does anyone here have Demigod? Is it any good? I was interested in this one. But then it was released to average reviews due to the bugs. So I've avoided buying it so far.
However, it's cheap on Impulse right now. So I was wondering if it was worth it?
Nice title pun ;-)

Wishbone: Nice title pun ;-)

I couldn't resist it.
The bugs have been ironed out, a new patch (a giant one) is on the way with lots of features, and yes, it definitely is worth $20. Hell, I got it full price and I love it. Then again, I guess I'm a little biased because I love Chris Taylor's games (not the Fallout one, the GPG one). Either way, just buy it.
The main cause for a lot of the negative reviews (as far as i could see) was the problems with multyplayer at launch. Those problems seem to have been pretty much dealt with. So basically if you like team based competetive RTS's I think you should like it. I have certainly had a lot of fun with it.

I love Total Annihilation. For years that was my favourite RTS by far (surely it should be here? I'd certainly buy it again.). Supreme Commander is great too. So naturally, my hopes where high for this one. Given that they're still throwing a lot of support at it, I'll go for it. Thanks!

Good to hear. Yeah, I think I'll go for it.

On the sidenote, any game that has a score of over 70% in Gamerankings usually gets a look from me. Any game above 90% I usually ignore (though there are exceptions) because I don't really care about games from rich publishers, and any game that's above 80% I'm cautious. But any game that gets 70% usually means it's good in some way, albeit flawed, and most creative games actually fall in that range (Crayon Physics Deluxe for example).
While Demigod is not the most creative game, it seems to expand on the DOTA formula, and the focus is on making each hero unique, not making 80 heroes that share similarities. So yeah I'm definitely very interested in getting Demigod too. Plus, the game seems about flawless if not for the network issues at launch.

What killed Crayon Physics Deluxe for me was the level design. I got the demo, played through it, and decided not to buy the game after all. Up until then, it had actually been an insta-buy for me. However, due to the poor quality of the level design, I couldn't really picture myself playing it for much longer than it took me to get through the demo.

Well, I don't know how reliable that is. Braid, for instance, wasn't in any way expensively produced and is frequently praised for its artistry. Yet it scored about 90. Same with World of Goo.
Demigod wasn't some low budget game. It just screwed up horribly on the multiplayer code.
I do appreciate the general principal that some of the lower scoring games can be more appealing than the Halos and WoWs out there. But I don't think you can realistically translate that into any kind of buying policy, no matter how many exceptions you make. After all, too many exceptions and it's not a policy at all.

That seems to be the consensus.

It does get more challenging later on (I got it with that Steam indie mega-pack). But I have to agree that it does take too long to really pick up any kind of pace. Plus, too many scenarios are left too wide open to interpretation. Making simple solutions all too easy to find.

I snapped it up due to the price. 13 Euro is one hell of a bargain. Shame my ISP has throttled me again *sigh* so I cant actually download it to play it yet.
At least all my Steam, Impulse and GOG games are downloaded now, so the same shouldn't happen next month. I hope.

Yeah, that's why I said usually. Keep an open mind, as I always believe. However, most games scoring 90% and above don't impress me that much.
I have it and I love it. it's a very fun game. if you have it add me on xfire (weclock) and we can play some time.
Target was forced by there higher ups to clearance it at 19.99... grab them while you can... Spacesiege scared the heck out of me, i'll never trust another game by them... That was the worst gaming buy i ever made... prior was Gothic 3 but since the patches have made it one of my favorite rpg's but Spacesige is a disaster with no support and no patches to fix its countless bugs.

What about single player?

Mentalepsy: What about single player?

It's got skirmish and some kind of tournament mode I haven't had a chance to touch yet. But there's no campaign mode.

I think my Xfire account is also Navagon. Sure, I'll add you! Although I'm still getting to grips with the game at the moment.

Target?
Space Siege was terrible. It was pretty obvious from the demo that the gameplay was bordering non-existent. GPG can make excellent RTS games, but they clearly know nothing about RPGs.
