SimonG: What is smash attack?

It isn't mentioned in the game.

I really, really, REALLY want to like this game!

I like the game now. Somewhat.

The problem was, I was fighting enemies way over my level at the beginning, who took a good chunk of damage even with blocking. I now found the actual area to be. And guess what, I no longer need to roll around like an idiot to avoid attacks.

Also, thanks to Luisfius and some helpful guides on the internet, I now know how the combat works. I can now, parry, riposte and all that. While the combat is still somewhat lackluster, I can see the appeal.

Elmofongo: Do you have a PS3, than get Demon's Souls much better than Dark Souls.

Dexiro: I wouldn't say the game itself is overhyped but the difficulty certainly is. It has a few brutal moments and it'll throw some scary looking stuff at you but it's really not that bad, and it's very fair. Really it's best to go in with no expectations though, it's not for everyone.

If you're new to the game and struggling always try looking for alternate paths or trying different strategies. I see a lot of new players commit to one route or strategy thinking "it's meant to be this hard, right?" when really they're going the complete wrong way :P
Dexiro: I think Dark Souls is much much better than Demon Souls. It's just your opinion, state it as such.

Gazoinks: I'm of two minds about DeSvsDkS. Demon's was better balanced and creepier, but Dark just has a lot more to it. So overall I like Dark more, but there're definitely some things Demon's did better.

Elmofongo: Also how was Dark Souls more lighthearted?

Dexiro: It seemed a lot more colourful, had safe zones (bonfires) dotted all over the place, had a lot more friendly characters I think? I could be wrong but I felt like those things made it seem a lot more lighthearted ^^

Luisfius: It had more friendly characters, and yeah, the tone in Dark is more cheerful. In Demon's the world is DYING. In Dark, the world is merely stagnating, but not dying, not yet anyways. To say more would be to spoil a lot.
