Nroug7: What weapon and armor did you use for nito? I smashed most of the other bosses but found him ridiculously challenging. Maybe it's because all the enemies draw my attention.
avatar
SimonG: The trick with Nito is not to move past the initial area. Most of his attacks are rather laughable (I was, however SL 80 and had good gear +4 Chaos Greatscythe ). If you aggro the giant skeletons you are done for.

S+O are those I am currently stuck at with my NG+ playthrough. I needed help the first time, and I probably need help now :-(.
Yeah, Ornstein and Smough are probably, along with the 4 Kings, the hardest thing in NG+. You might be able to get through by summoning Solaire, but bringing in real people is definitely much better.
I am so exited for this game, that I think that my exitment is taking shape and surrounding my body with...nevermind...anyway, at the same time I am so fucking worried and that's because of this:

http://www.t3.com/news/dark-souls-2-announced

"mould Dark Souls 2 into a more approachable form"
“I personally am the sort of person who likes to be more direct than subtle,”, “[Dark Souls II] will be more straightforward and more understandable.”
Dark Souls 2 will be the first iteration in the franchise not helmed by series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki. Instead, the project will be overseen by Tomohiro Shibuya and Yui Tanimura, with Miyazaki working in a supervisory capacity.

This is not something that I want to hear, to tell you the truth...
In it's defence they did say that they will bring forth the chalange that the previous Soul games had, but yeah, I don't know.

StingingVelvet: You and Simon are like defensive kids in this thread refusing to hear that one thing might be better than another.
You are the one with elitism crap. We are just getting facts straight here.

avatar
StingingVelvet: PC versions, in general, look and perform better and have more control options.
This is exactly what i said, but you didn't even bother to read my post.

"PC ports are usually better than the console versions in most aspects, but some are just terrible thanks to lazy porting."

Neobr10: You are the one with elitism crap. We are just getting facts straight here.
Imaginary enemies bro. You see them in every dark alley.

Neobr10: This is exactly what i said, but you didn't even bother to read my post.

"PC ports are usually better than the console versions in most aspects, but some are just terrible thanks to lazy porting."
And then you made a long list of games that are obviously much better on PC.
avatar
StingingVelvet: On lowest settings? Console versions were 640p with massive blur filters and still ran at 20fps half the time. The PC version was nowhere near that bad.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Where did you take that from? I own both the PS3 and PC versions of GTA4 and this is certainly NOT true. Seriously, do some research, but please, don't spread false information on the forum, it makes you look stupid. 20 frames per second half the time? Yeah right, maybe in your fertile imagination.

Also, the PS3 version was playable from launch day, the PC version wasn't. Not only did the PC version have massive performance issues, there were also issues with the activation method itself thanks to that Rockstar social club BS. Many people couldn't even activate the fucking game because of that, and the performance is well known to SUCK even on rather good PCs. Yet you refuse to accept simple facts.

Also you have to take into account that i7 processors were about to be released when GTA4 came out, and even the most powerful Core 2 Quad processors at that time suffered to maintain good framerates.

Keep lying to yourself if you wish, but the fact reamains, GTA4 was the prime example of how NOT to make a PC port.

avatar
StingingVelvet: Judging by my rep the last 12 hours a lot of console gamers are pissed at me, and that's fine, I don't care.
Hmm, so everyone who doesn't agree with you is a console gamer? Hmmm, that's interesting.

avatar
StingingVelvet: end point cannot be argued that even a poorly performing PC version is better than a console version like GTA4 had.
In your dreams, maybe.

avatar
StingingVelvet: Again, not saying playing on console is bad at all. Just saying on pure gameplay fronts PC versions are better 90% of the time.
Most of the time the PC port is better, but some ports suck, which is the case for both Dark SOuls and GTA4.
avatar
StingingVelvet: And then you made a long list of games that are obviously much better on PC.
Uh, what? Like GTA4? LOL.

GTA4 was a rough port, yes. Yet it was still better than the console versions. That is my ENTIRE port... a rough port is no reason to avoid a PC version when it is still better than the console one.

You can tell me how great the PS3 version of GTA4 ran all night long but I read the reviews and the tech comparisons and know the numbers.

In any event, this conversation is the most tiresome thing ever and is just giving me anxiety now, so I am done. I have proven in 4 years on this forum that I am far from a PC elitist and yet you follow me around accusing me of that for no apparent reason other than you like to be angry and put people in categories that make that easier for you.

Reply if you wish, I won't respond.

Tiefood: Really? Online is essential? I never once had any sort of multiplayer experience on the PS3 version.. Perhaps I did not get far enough.
I know at least three persons IRL who finished the game offline without leveling (starting with a peasant/deprived don't remember how it's called) only upgrading equipment, and one of them did it on his first play-through, so I wouldn't call online "essential". Apparently it's only a question of memorizing the boss patterns and having adequate reflexes.

I found the four kings was just a matter of killing them fast enough.

Funnily enough, the easiest boss in the game is the gaping dragon imo (Even the Taurus demon has more risk for error - Falling of the side of the castle, etc)

Unfortunately not everybody is as cool or has the same mad skillz as your friends .... I only managed to beat the game after some serious levelling ....

Have you tried them on NG+? they've got a crapton of health, and the NPC you can summon is near useless for the fight.

For me it was definitely the most brutal bossfight on NG+ which is a bit surpising since they're basically a pushover on the first playthough (Well unless you want to join a certain covenant and have to confront them earlier than usual).

I've done them on NG+ and NG++ and I'm doing my fourth run now. Agreed, They do get a lot harder, but it's all about nailing down your attacks and when to back the hell up (Unless your a fan of dying)
Bed of chaos is my favorite boss though, Kept wiiping me out with armor on the first playthrough so I just removed all the armor and let it knock me down so the second hit didn't take any more of my health, then ran to the orb to kill her. Lol, whoever knew removing armor would be beneficial?

Nroug7:
Well, hats off to you, I've barely made it past alive after a lot of tries.

Man I hate the bed of chaos. Thank god the game gives you a bit of mercy on that one, between getting slapped around, falling into a hole in the ground, getting burnt to a crisp, messing up the jump, and getting blown to pieces while cutting through the vines.... Well there was a lot of dying involved.

slight spoilers:

My favourite is probably Dark sun gwyndolin, the pattern is rathe robvious but it's still a challenging fight, plas the way I interpret the game killing him isn't really the sin it's made out to be.

Finishing the game without leveling up, or even at level 1, is not something uncommon or requiring "mad skillz", you can find tons of walk-through or even let's play of peoples doing it.

And those are people that spent all their time memorizing the patterns and play almost nothing else. Honestly, I love Dark Souls, But I have many, many, more games to play and I'm sure most people have as well.

And yet believing your own posts you already played the game four times... not sure that really take that much less time.
