Before I get it I'd like to hear how the PC version is going to be, I expect they learned their lesson and actually take advantage of what the PC has to offer, instead of just doing a straight port. Becuase if not, I'll just wait for a good sale first instead of getting it full price.

SovietSharkey: With mods and not K&M maybe
Besides I can play with my friend who owns also on Xbox
Even without tweaks it still looks a tad better and runs much better. With tweaks it's a lot better and it's not like those are difficult.

Anyway, the second reason makes perfect sense.

Actually, the network code in the PC version was pretty shitty. In a game like DS, which has a very smart and unique MP integration, that is an issue. That alone makes the console version better.

The PC version was a botch job. But it was announced as a botch job. And I rather have a shitty port than no port. And it was fairly priced, hitting the stores at 40 USD. Therefore I won't complain. But in the end, it feels like playing a pirated version.

The PC made good changes in content, but those are available also for the consoles.

Pemptus: Wasn't there a developer saying something along the lines of "baww, we feel bad that the game's hard, we'll try to fix it" or something? It made me kinda sad at the time.
We have no real idea. See, while some site did report as such; they never made the original interview (i.e., the Japanese language comments) available. It is very likely, given how they then went back on that claim, that they didn't get an adequate translation of the responses.
Interesting.

I'm not into masochistic gaming myself, I enjoy other fetishes.
But I think they found quite a niche there.

I wonder what happens if an easy mode is included for the "less deviant" gamers. ;-)

All I've heard is the addition of a difficulty setting, which wouldn't really mess with much (Except for online, which could create problems).

If we stick to gaming fetishes, care to give an example? :P

StingingVelvet: You do realize that the "crap port" is still much better than the console version, right?
No, it was not, unless you use a hack, and seriously, when i pay for a new game i expect it to work out of the box. I can understand if i have to tweak an old game to work properly on my PC, but not a 2012 game.

Nope, it doesn't. It was confirmed that the Dark Souls PC port uses the same resolution and has the same frame cap as the consoles versions. Unless you mod it, of course.

Yet without the framerate dips in big cities and areas, and with a super simple hack that makes it look amazing.

Stick your fingers in your ears and pretend crap PC ports are worse than console versions if you like but it's rarely ever true. Resident Evil 4 and Splinter Cell Double Agent are pretty much the only ones. Saint's Row 2 was until some modders fixed it.

Yeah, so having to go through the hassle of modding the game to make it look like it was supposed to in the first place is still better than the hassle free experience on consoles?

And what about the broken netcode on the PC version? This "feature" is not available on the consoles version. In a game that relies so much in online interactivity, a broken online code certainly makes the experience worse.

You can try fool yourself as much as you want, but Dark SOuls is a crappy port, and it IS worse than the consoles version. It's just a matter of fact. The fucked up netcode breaks the game.

Just a proof of how amazing the PC port for Dark Souls is.

SR2 is a fucking joke, the game doesn't work if you have a CPU with different clock speeds than the Xbox 360's one. And even with mods it doesn't really work properly.

You can add Prototype to that list. THat game just does not work on processors with HT enabled (which includes every i7 CPU). Activision didn't give a fuck about it.

Also, why didn't RE5 get the DLCs on the PC version? The DLCs for that game are actually pretty cool, but the PC version just didn't get it.

Well it does, in fact it works perfectly out of the Xbox.

Oy! oy! Watch it with those tomatoes, this is an expensive suit y'know.

Without modding it looks how it's supposed to look: exaclty like the console version, using the tweak makes it look even better. At least that's how I undestand it.

And I don't know about the netcode either, I always managed to get invaded and killed just fine.

Neobr10: ...
Even if your opinions on all these were correct, which I do not grant, it's still rare. You came up with three examples out of thousands of games.

My central point is a "bad port" is usually bad by PC standards but still superior to the console version.
Actually, when I played on console, the PS3 netcode was kind of broken too. Did they ever fix it?

Wait, what?
It runs perfectly on my other PC, which has a Core i7 950 with HT enabled...

(sorry for the off-topic post)

Once you played the vanilla Dark Souls version you will see how embarrassingly stupid this comment will be.
