I'm really looking forward to this game, which apparently releases next month, and have heard many positive impressions from those participating in the "Early Access" release of the game on Steam.

I'm not going to be happy if I have wait a month or more to buy it on GOG like I did for Deponia 3, because regional pricing and restriction bullshit.

That is all.
Played it
Not hardcore - missing a few things (think they put something's in the too hard box like flanking)
Feels too simplified imho.Story feels...superficial. My 2 cents worth.
Yeah, I'm aware it's linear/story-driven, but still as far as turn-based RPG's... there's not that much out there in terms of recent games, so I'll take what I can get.

Especially considering they apparently plan to implement "advanced" character creation with Dark Eye rules in final version, so you don't need to just use the archetypes.
The game looks very interesting.

I hope this time Daedalic keeps up with a sooner release here on GOG. Hopefully including German as a language as well, not like they did with Deponia 3 here on GOG. It rather seems Daedalic massively stepped back from fully supporting GOG with their games for whatever reason. Look at all the Deponia titles and compare the older titles stuff they offered with part 3 to see what I mean.

The reasons are pretty straightforward. GOG won't charge double the price of the game in Germany, so Daedalic holds back their releases on GOG until they make all their German money, then they put it out sans German dub.
Really, really want to play this, but I'm kind of leery of that whole Early Access thing. Hope it finishes and hops onto GOG before 2015. :P

I know this and agree that it is a reason. The fact that Deponia 3 was on sale at other stores already, even more discounted than the regular price on GOG is in Euro, makes it hard to see it as the only reason for Daedalic's loss in support for GOG. If it was only to get the money from us Germans, why leave out all the extra stuff from the GOG release of Deponia 3 for all other people? Make the game less or equally attractive compared to the Steam version or buying it from another store maybe, but why?

Is it actually Daedalic or the publishers they use in germany?

They mainly blamed the publishers for other releases, like Chains of Satinav and Memoria. With Deponia 3 being their own title, well they barely have an excuse. Although I do not know the publishing contracts they have for boxed retail which might have an influence on that matter as well of course.

Seems Blackguards will be published by Daedalic themselves and for the boxed retail it will again be EuroVideo Medien GmbH which might have the same effect for the GOG release then it had for Deponia 3. We will see. I hope the publishing contract is at least time exclusive so we will get the game here as soon as possible and the German language later on again too.

I will buy this game on GOG
I got this answer from Daedalic support:

"Blackguards is scheduled to be released on GOG simultaneously with the worldwide Steam and the box release on 24th January 2014."

Very good! I'm really looking forward to this game, it seems a good old-fashioned turn-based goodness to me. Like Crosmando says, we didn't see many of them recently...

Edit: sorry! I used the quick search function and posted on the wrong thread by mistake... I was searching the more recent one! :)

EDIT: Now I feel just stupid, the Steam requirements on Amazon are only listed for the Steam-code version. I'll have to see for the boxed version.

*sigh* According to Amazon the retail box needs Steam. i like my physical boxes, but I don't like Steam. This is why the death of retail is a self-fulfiling prophecy; why would i want to buy a retail box if all I get is a disc that becomes useless the instant I want to play the game? Might as well just wait for a sale from a digital distributor.

Completely agree. Same thoughts here.
