orcishgamer: Because I suppose they like alienating their customers, they certainly seem good at it.
Delixe: You do realise the whole benefit of owning a PC means all those limitations can be thrown out the nearest window? I have 1 activation left on my Dreamcast Collection, do you really think I will buy it again? IMO no matter how badly publishers treat us the benefits of being a PC gamer outweigh the downsides.
Just look at any Fallout New Vegas message board and you will find console players jealous of PC gamers not only because we have mods they can only dream of but we can play it without crashes or save corruption.
Okay, I can throw which limitations out the nearest Window? The console ones? Sort of, I'm still stuck with console level graphics, only DA2 that I know of provides a whole extra set of higher res textures for PC.
You mean the limitation of activations? So you're implying you'll crack your game to keep playing if you run out of activations. If I have to hack my game to make it work, why should I buy it in the first place? I mean, I know "if you don't support them there won't be any more games" but I'm asking at a fundamental level, why buy a product that is flawed by design. Would you pay full price for a car if you had to mod it to make it work in a reasonable manner (you might accept a discount for a limitation like that, but full price). How about software, would you pay 600 bucks for Adobe Photoshop if you had to mod/hack it to make it work, if you need to hack it anywhere, why not save the 600 bucks?
And what if my game is unpopular, or they manage to essentially remove TPB or whatever from my country (by turning off the external internet or something)? I assume that most games these days are trivially cracked, but that might not always be the case, even then there's bugs that arise due to this, cracking jobs aren't always perfect.
