Just finished it and I have to say it's easily one of the best FPS games I have ever played. Stealth sniper? You can do that. Heavily armoured tank with a heavy machine gun? You can do that. Superfast hand to hand monster? Oh you can do that as well. Most importantly yes it does set up a sequel but at the same time it's a very satisfying ending as well.

Soon as the DX11 patch hits I'm playing it again. Anyone else played it?
Sadly, this is a tight month for me, money-wise. Otherwise I'd have gotten it already. I'm hoping for next month, but then there's also Portal 2 to get, so it might be a while before I get Crysis 2. It's good to know that it's good though, because I definitely will get it at some point.
Ill wait for it to be heavily reduced before I get it, I had Crysis Maximum edition and wasnt keen so I wont go blow £30 on it (when I get payed)

When its £15 or less I'll consider picking it up.
When they take the activation off I'd be glad to buy a copy. Screw them, Crysis sold like hotcakes but they only looked at piracy numbers and then punished those of us who bought it on release week by putting unacceptable DRM on Warhead.

Crysis 2 doesn't have limited activations. Warhead had a revoke tool. I don't mind limited activations as long as they allow you to manage them, unlike Starforce & TAGES who say 5 activations and STFU.

If I have to rebuild my machine I don't need more aggravation, I'm probably already aggravated; so no, revoke tools don't cut it. And any activation is unacceptable to me, especially when you're bitching about piracy of your PC game which sold over a million copies in like 5 months, seriously!

I have no clue whether their multiplayer allows for local LAN servers or not, but if not, that would probably make me skip out too. I hate paying the same or more every year and consistently getting less.

I was right with you up to that part. A game has to be DRM free before you buy it?

I didn't say that, I said no activation. There was DRM long before they foisted that activation BS on us. I was pretty much okay with SecuROM before they retooled to be centered around activation.

I dont get the beef. Activation window pops up and you copypasta the key. Job done till your next install. Due to a bug in Crysis 2's multiplayer I have actually never been online with the game.

My beef is asking permission to play my game and the fact that one day those servers most likely won't be there. I'm not paying for games like that. I occasionally pay for DLC that will probably be unavailable one day as long as it's on a steep enough discount, even that bugs me.

That's pretty much 90% of PC games these days. I actually can't remember the last game I bought that didn't have an activation. Excluding GOG of course.

I buy nearly no PC games these days. I used to spend 2000+ dollars per year on PC games. Because I suppose they like alienating their customers, they certainly seem good at it.

Even my fucking console games don't do the BS things that PC games do. I hate my console, I hate that it's graphics are dated, I hate that I can't mod my games if I feel like it, I hate that I can lose saves because of their insane file management, and yet even with all that it's a better experience than PC gaming these days. This coming from a guy who built a new rig for Crysis. Yep, I'm that guy and I don't buy new PC games. I bought Zombie Pirates at PAX (no DRM) and bought most of the stuff that Spiderweb Software had for sale during their October sale. I think that's the last PC games I've bought save GOG games.

You do realise the whole benefit of owning a PC means all those limitations can be thrown out the nearest window? I have 1 activation left on my Dreamcast Collection, do you really think I will buy it again? IMO no matter how badly publishers treat us the benefits of being a PC gamer outweigh the downsides.

Just look at any Fallout New Vegas message board and you will find console players jealous of PC gamers not only because we have mods they can only dream of but we can play it without crashes or save corruption.

Okay, I can throw which limitations out the nearest Window? The console ones? Sort of, I'm still stuck with console level graphics, only DA2 that I know of provides a whole extra set of higher res textures for PC.

You mean the limitation of activations? So you're implying you'll crack your game to keep playing if you run out of activations. If I have to hack my game to make it work, why should I buy it in the first place? I mean, I know "if you don't support them there won't be any more games" but I'm asking at a fundamental level, why buy a product that is flawed by design. Would you pay full price for a car if you had to mod it to make it work in a reasonable manner (you might accept a discount for a limitation like that, but full price). How about software, would you pay 600 bucks for Adobe Photoshop if you had to mod/hack it to make it work, if you need to hack it anywhere, why not save the 600 bucks?

And what if my game is unpopular, or they manage to essentially remove TPB or whatever from my country (by turning off the external internet or something)? I assume that most games these days are trivially cracked, but that might not always be the case, even then there's bugs that arise due to this, cracking jobs aren't always perfect.

I bought the game and did my part. No law in the land could convict me for cracking it if my activations are up. Activations are not law but are part of the EULA which isn't worth the paper it's printed on.

Why should you buy it? You said it yourself. If I don't buy these games there will be no future games. Some dickhead publisher wants to treat me like shit then go ahead, but they can't claim I didn't buy their game. I'm sorry to say but we are in a terrible position as PC gamers and we have two choices. Go buy a console or get on our knees. Until we get someone with actual legal clout to fight for us in the courts we have to get on our knees. We are the fat kid in school that everyone likes to bully, no one stands up for Mr Manboobs.
