evilguy12: I have been playing more PC games than ever and I prefer to get games for PC over consoles generally. I think it maybe because I think this generation of consoles is probably the worst so far. Yes there are a few great gems such as Little Big Planet and Valkyria Chronicles but with the most popular games being FPSs (which I refuse to play on consoles. Crappy online and controls? No thanks!) and I can't see enough games I want to play on consoles (espically the Wii, which I haven't played in over 5 months).
My favourite console is still between the PS2 and PC though. It's funny when people say:
"How the hell can the PS2 be better than the PS3?"
More and better games and no online. It was a lot better when consoles just played games.
Someone that sees my point of view. :)
And yeah, newer doesn't automatically mean better. PS2 is definitely better than PS3 overall, in my opinion. Things are bigger and nicer looking but its much more expensive and the gems are few and far between.
x-arioch: Cost is the big reason. For as much as people complain about the cost of a PS3, it is less than a high end video card ( or a cheap desktop PC with a passable card ).
Not true! The really high end ones are generally about 300$ -- I managed to pick up a fabulous MSI R4830 for $100, which, overclocked, is more than enough for most games today and does the really demanding games well.
Also, the GPU in the PS3 is based on the GeForce 7800 architecture...buying one of those would be absurdly cheap, like, sub-50$ cheap. :P
