Still waiting for comment from Larian in this thread. Feel free to ask your own question and express frustration with this treatment of GOG users.

If they won't comment today, I'll consider that a failure on their part.
The way I see it:

D:OS was one of the three games that should come with regional prices.

The GOG community revolted against regional prices.

GOG refrained from their plans to establish regional prices - thus pissing of Larian.

Now Larian releases D:OS...BUT only on (regional priced and therefore more money making) Steam and only two months later on (one world - one price and therefore less money making) GOG.

The GOG Galaxy has nothing to do with this. It's just a little flim-flam to hide the truth behind.

See, I don't blame GOG (only for their -and unfortunetaly well known- lack of communication)...I blame Larian.
Look, guys - I don't know how to put it simpler to leave no room for confusion. The game will be available to KS backers for now, but without the online multiplayer component. The full public GOG.com release is planned for August 31, as our online platform GOG Galaxy should be up to support it by then.

I'm not sure about the Sunday thing. May wait for Monday, September 1st, or go with Friday, August 29. For all we know, Sunday release is also a possibility.

Great! Just red this and Larian and GOG lost a lot of reputation. How can you treat fans and costumers like that?

Scorpionscythe: So I am all ready for vacation. Got my beer and snacks. Got the kids playing upstairs. Time to download my newly released game..... WTF! Seriously, what the hell gog. I love you guys, but this is a clusterf**k of a bad idea. It really sucks because i was genuinely excited about this one. What idiot thought waiting for Galaxy was a good idea? I can buy on steam (and probably will) but I have always given my business to gog where possible first. It's really sad because some of the steps gog gas taken lately really makes me question their business model. The lack of proper communication from gog is worst of all though.
Seriously, this is me to a tee... I had the beer ready, the kids are at summer camp, several days off scheduled this week. The wife and I had planned to sink our evenings into D:OS this week but Larian/GOG pulled one of the most incompetent moves in all of gaming. I'm so, so, so, SO glad I missed the chance to back this.

I swear, the people who made this decision and/or let this happen pick their noses and happily eat what they excavate while dreaming of pies full of bacon and farts made of rainbows... it's the only logical explanation.

Back online. And still no way to get my kickstarter backer key. Great.

RPGler: Like most of the people here I'm waiting for it and always prefer GOG. But this is a mess. We don't know where the game is and when we will get it and under which conditions. A comment what is going on would be the least.

Simple tell us:

When and how do we got D:OS?

This goes for GOG and Larian.
The 'when' is August 31st, according to GOG. The conditions, if I'm not mistaken, is that we'll need to use GOG Galaxy for multiplayer and updates. And there is the possibility that the game will be released with regional pricing.

Well you can always buy the game elsewhere, really.

Which still doesn't answer how the GOG KS backers are going to get their updates till then and if they do release manual patches for them, I see no reason why the game should be released in August to the general public, can't believe I have to use the term "General Public" as if we non KS backers don't count anything to Larian.

Matruchus: Reposting this link again: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/coming_soon_divinity_original_sin/post77

This is not the official release version yet.

Kristian: It should be. That is what people are arguing over. No reason to wait for Galaxy to release the game. Add Galaxy support when Galaxy is released. Meanwhile release the same GOG version that backers have access to, to the general GOG public.
The problem is now reading the Larian thread that shmerl posted here that the gog version is 6.4gb where as Steam version is 10gb so there is definitely a part of the game missing on gog.com

Reposting this from Larian forum:
Quote:"Anyone notice the GOG version of Original Sin is only going to be 6.4 GB as opposed to Steam's 10GB so what gives? Where's the difference coming for? We're talking of a whooping 3.6 GB extra and that's not the game tool either seeing as that's a separate download. Also what's the deal with the GOG release of the game tool. I am really not in the mood for any more surprises so speak up Larian because so far it's been nothing but kick in the balls after kick in the balls without warning for GOG and DRM-free users. "

Fact is, people are saying the Steam version is DRM-free too. (depending on how you view Steam - DRM or not DRM)

Oh, I know (and I almost did yesterday), but... honestly, my desire to support Larian and even play this game has waned a bit. And 'a bit' is enough in this case to keep me from buying this thing for a long while. I was ready to spend yesterday, but not anymore.

Isn't that just compression in the installer? http://www.gog.com/game/divinity_original_sin gives 10GB hard drive space as part of the system requirements.

It might be it yes - probably overreaction from that guy from all the disapointment and kickstarter key problems and such.

Doesn't Steam use compression as well? It's rather dumb if it doesn't.
