*sigh* The kickstarter backers who are waiting for their GOG keys right now are not effected by the GOG release of the game. The ones who could get their GOG keys are already playing the GOG version.
I'm among those backers who cannot get a GOG key nor a Steam key from the Larian Vault because the alpha/beta keys I gave away cannot be destroyed yet.

Well, well, well...that is upsetting from Larian - who are usually so on top of doing right by the customer.

The best part is - Once I activated my Alpha key - I only played it for about 20 minutes and enjoyed it so much I didn't want ANY spoilers.

..20 minutes..... 20 minutes I spent when I could have taken a sick day and had 9 hours on my belt today.

As Piranjade stated you won't be affected much by this. Larian is sorting the problem out for Kickstarter backers. Only all the other people won't be able to buy the game till 31th of August. You should be ok in a few days.

If that's the case (and it wouldn't surprise me) then that just fuels my Steam hate....and of course a little hate for Larian....

It's so sad that PC gaming became a restricted eco system.

So the rest of us will bellyache until GOG comes to reason... (im not sure if missing out on the kickstarter was a bad thing now....)

Yeah - but I mean I'm already affected. I got up this morning nice and early with a pot of coffee ready to start the download and get my game on.

I mean - it's only a game - but I feel like I've just gotten up at some ridiculous hour to watch a world cup match - only to have the audio of the crowd cheering and having no idea what was actually going on.

I'll wait 'till tomorrow morning, but if it's the case, i'll have the game and none of them will have a dime of me.

If that is the case, that is a real good reason to rip the shite out of Steam...im actually wondering if Banner Saga used a similar excuse from it being made available on GOG at launch as well (they *took* several weeks to make a drm free copy.....)

Steam delivers games "as is" ready unpacked in a folder. In some ways that is less DRM than using a installer wrapper, as what you get is what you need. For the DRM free games, the only thing you need to do is to zip the game folder (which an installer in its most basic sense is anyway) and you can store the zip. Everything you need will be in that zip, even the dependable programs. This zip can be moved to any computer, and the game unzipped without need for internet. For conservation purposes, this approach is better than using installers (which can be broken).

Yeah - that's right - always thought that was weird that they said they had to do some technical wizardy to get Steam out of the game before it could go on GOG.

Seems like that is a rather backwards way of doing things.
Did you at least grab the game on GOG or get it when they Kickstarted it? Seriously great game. Very unique and incredibly moving.
