Icinix: Yeah - I still think they got that wrong - and we'll see it well before then - if not the next few days.

...I was one of those fools however who caved to Larians Facebook commentary pleading with us to try out the alpha and beta so I activated my Steam key...thinking in good faith it would just die off and the GOG key would come on release.

So I'm waiting for the 'soon' from Larian....
avatar
Matruchus: I don't know. Somebody yesterday posted a link on which Larian in their forums states that they think that the game will be released together with the gog client. I think the problem here really is with gogs delay in gog galaxy development.
*sigh* The kickstarter backers who are waiting for their GOG keys right now are not effected by the GOG release of the game. The ones who could get their GOG keys are already playing the GOG version.
I'm among those backers who cannot get a GOG key nor a Steam key from the Larian Vault because the alpha/beta keys I gave away cannot be destroyed yet.

JudasIscariot: For those of you having trouble with the links acting up, please send us a ticket to Support as we are trying to troubleshoot this very issue. Please try to provide as much information as possible. Thank you :)

AstralWanderer: Raised a ticket (FAUQDC72) 11 hours ago but here's all the information needed:

The GOG account page for Divinity: Original Sin provides the following links for the installers, which all result in a 404 page:

https://secure.gog.com/downlink/divinity_original_sin/en1installer1
https://secure.gog.com/downlink/divinity_original_sin/en1installer2
https://secure.gog.com/downlink/divinity_original_sin/en1installer3

Changing these links to:

https://secure.gog.com/downlink/file/divinity_original_sin/en1installer1
https://secure.gog.com/downlink/file/divinity_original_sin/en1installer2
https://secure.gog.com/downlink/file/divinity_original_sin/en1installer3

allows the downloads to work. However other games use installer links without the /file/ subfolder so the issue is almost surely with the code that's supposed to link the GOG-supplied download links to EdgecastCDN URLs.
Hey Judas, can you please explain me, why are you so obsessive with those tickets? You are not speaking with each other in the office or what? Where is the problem with the download link is quite clear here, don't you think?

Cheers!

Well, well, well...that is upsetting from Larian - who are usually so on top of doing right by the customer.

The best part is - Once I activated my Alpha key - I only played it for about 20 minutes and enjoyed it so much I didn't want ANY spoilers.

..20 minutes..... 20 minutes I spent when I could have taken a sick day and had 9 hours on my belt today.

As Piranjade stated you won't be affected much by this. Larian is sorting the problem out for Kickstarter backers. Only all the other people won't be able to buy the game till 31th of August. You should be ok in a few days.

Icinix: Dang....If that is the actual case - then that is a huge erroneous call from whoever decided that was a good idea.

It makes both Larian and GOG look bad.
avatar
Nicole28: Well.. There is some speculation that Divinity Original Sin is a Steam exclusive, so they can't release it until 2 months later (General public, not the backers). But because GOG is under an NDA, they can't reveal that fact, so they using the GOG Galaxy as cover-up news.
If that's the case (and it wouldn't surprise me) then that just fuels my Steam hate....and of course a little hate for Larian....

It's so sad that PC gaming became a restricted eco system.

So the rest of us will bellyache until GOG comes to reason... (im not sure if missing out on the kickstarter was a bad thing now....)

We do speak with each other in the office but when it comes to technical issues like this, it's best to have everything in a central location so that we can determine, instead of assuming, both the scope of the problem and inform the proper department along with the information collected via support tickets about the problem.

In short, support tickets keep everything organized :)

I don't believe that sounds alot like conspiracy theory lol, i don't think Larian of all companies would go that way.

If it was true though Larian would be dead to me for sure, steam already is so no change there.

Yeah - but I mean I'm already affected. I got up this morning nice and early with a pot of coffee ready to start the download and get my game on.

I mean - it's only a game - but I feel like I've just gotten up at some ridiculous hour to watch a world cup match - only to have the audio of the crowd cheering and having no idea what was actually going on.
I'll wait 'till tomorrow morning, but if it's the case, i'll have the game and none of them will have a dime of me.

If that is the case, that is a real good reason to rip the shite out of Steam...im actually wondering if Banner Saga used a similar excuse from it being made available on GOG at launch as well (they *took* several weeks to make a drm free copy.....)
avatar
Reaper9988: Eh i think steam has some kind of local backup function too. IT's been a few years since i had Steam installed though.
avatar
Piranjade: I have a few games on Steam but never learned all the functions offered there. It's all just so annoying with the auto-updates and stuff. I'd also presume that even if I could back.up a steam game I would need to be online to install it and get it to run? That's not good enough for me.
Steam delivers games "as is" ready unpacked in a folder. In some ways that is less DRM than using a installer wrapper, as what you get is what you need. For the DRM free games, the only thing you need to do is to zip the game folder (which an installer in its most basic sense is anyway) and you can store the zip. Everything you need will be in that zip, even the dependable programs. This zip can be moved to any computer, and the game unzipped without need for internet. For conservation purposes, this approach is better than using installers (which can be broken).

The guys from Banner Saga are already dead to me too for their attitude no matter the reason lol.

Yeah - that's right - always thought that was weird that they said they had to do some technical wizardy to get Steam out of the game before it could go on GOG.

Seems like that is a rather backwards way of doing things.

Did you at least grab the game on GOG or get it when they Kickstarted it? Seriously great game. Very unique and incredibly moving.

I understand your meaning since the game is already online you know where.
