I never did get to play Rez, but I fired up Child of Eden this morning. I feel almost bad for saying how much I dug it even though I've only played one level (my kid jacked my Kinect from me after a single level to play Fantastic Pets).
The good: music, lights, gameplay, it's all a weirdly different kind of fun. You actually make music as you shoot different enemies, I found myself trying to keep a beat to the crazy background music and was not punished for it.
There's regular controls too, with a gamepad, if you want. I assume they would turn it into something less engaging.
I suspect this game caused weed sales to spike.
Before Child of Eden I always said there was only one must have Kinect game (Dance Central), now there are two.
