ddmuse: I have not and will not purchase *any* EA games on GOG (or any digital vendor) until (as a consistent policy) expansions are included with EA games or offered as an upgrade.
Fine, that's your choice. Most of the grief you're catching over this thread is because of the title, I'm sure. You are perfectly entitled to spend your own money as you see fit, but the title suggests you'd like to decide how others should spend theirs. I think that's the primary reason for the extremely negative reaction you're seeing.
By all means, vote with your wallet, but don't tell others how they should vote with theirs.
That said, considering how long everybody and his cousin (including me) have been clamoring to get EA on GOG, I think boycotting them from the beginning is, pardon my French, a pretty fucking stupid thing to do (my apologies to any French people here, but such is the expression in English). That is quite the wrong signal to send them. So, does that mean you should immediately buy every EA release on GOG to send them a better signal? Of course not. Just buy the games you think are worth the asking price, and skip the ones you don't. Ignore who published them.
For instance, I haven't bought Dungeon Keeper. Why? Because I already own Dungeon Keeper Gold, which includes Deeper Dungeons. I was hoping for the GOG release to contain it as well, while hopefully also including working windows versions of both games, since they are next to impossible to get running on modern systems. As it is, it's just the DOS version of the base game, which is less than I already have, although with better ease of use.
On the other hand, I have bought Crusader: No Remorse, even though I already own that too. Why? Because the GOG version is identical to mine, only with better ease of use, so there's nothing detracting from that release for me.
I'll be getting Alpha Centauri too at some point, regardless of whether the expansion is included or not. Why? Because I don't own that game at all, so that release is undeniably better than what I already have.
That is how I choose to vote with my wallet. Let us all vote in the way we ourselves best see fit, individually.
