The vast majority of them seriously look at some of the games that are 5.99
King of Dragon Pass, Dungeon Keeper, Dungeon Keeper 2, Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, Sid Meier's Pirates, Syndicate, Theme Hospital, Alone in the Dark 1+2+3, Gabriel Knight Sins of the Father, the entire Ultima series plus the underworld spin offs, Lands of Lore, Betrayal at Krondor, Anachronox, NOX, The Populous series, Outcast, Darklands, Star Control 1+2, Wing Commander series, Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, Bioforge, ect.
Seriously and that's off the top of my head, there are just too many great titles at that price point to say "hey out of all these games this one right here is the very best" well for me anyway. Maybe I'm just indecisive
spindown: It seems that a game's age is the most important factor, while quality doesn't seem to matter much. This leads to some pretty bizarre pricing decisions such as
- Master of Orion 1+2: $5.99
- Master of Orion 3: $9.99
tfishell: Yeah. You'd think that with old games those who do price control would realize that they originally poorly received and sold poorly for a
reason, and would lower games like the bottom four "User Rating" titles (Gothic 3: FGEE - Tomb Raider: AoD) down to at least 5.99. (not to mention Sensible Soccer and Journey to the Center of the Earth)
But whatevs...
Well maybe they figure that the games were so hated that there better off selling them at higher price points to make some money off them since less people will buy them or will buy them at a reduced sale price.
