So, what's more fun with bots, Battlefield 2 or 2142? Yes I know they're stupid and yes I'm gonna have fun anyway.

I haven't played 2142, but 2 is plenty good with bots. I've never played online, actually. I would suggest getting the Expanded Single player mod, there's one for both 2 and 2142. It's pretty good, I never hit any of the bugs people have said they've had, though.

Can't google it, could you give me some sort of link? And does it improve AI or just add more bots to maps (both would be great!)

Yeah, sure. It allows 64 bots on most maps (without the mod they only allow 16), adds new maps, and I think tweaks some weapons a little bit.

Wishbone: It's probably not as bad as all that either. A few notable cases have probably blackened the reputation of all PC ports. Gears of War and UT3 spring to mind.
Well I don't know much about UT3 but Gears of War was an excellent PC port in my opinion, I wish we had more like that today. Exclusive new levels, mod tools, DX10 support for native AA with UE3, etc..

When I think bad ports, ports so bad you might be better off with a console version, I think of games like Resident Evil 4, Splinter Cell: Double Agent and Saint's Row 2.

orcishgamer: Wait, isn't this the one with the broken multiplayer in the current version?
That's Bad Company 2, and only if you listen to the aforementioned nutjobs in the forums. It is a great game, but ultimately still a stepchild to what Battlefield 3 is expected to be.

I have absolutely no idea why everyone apparently hates Gears on PC. They did everything as they should've and then some.

Gears of War on PC was outstanding. Going back afterward and playing co-op on XBox with my buddy was painful. The only problem was f-ing up the DRM and letting copies de-activate a year or so later.

HampsterStyle: I own and played all the PC Battlefields and still to this date nothing has come closer to feeling like a real engagement to me than BF1942 64 player. The vehicles (land and sea based) not only provide an extra element of immersion, but also added many layers to the strategy involved when compared to other shooters in it's class like COD. COD seems to dump all their work on just the character aspect (perks, etc.) while leaving the game itself very one dimensional from a teamplay standpoint.
Yup, there's no BF better than BF1942. Playing the Allies in Omaha Beach, playing Coral Sea, playing the Russians in Berlin, the Battleships shelling islands, the dogfights, nothing comes close.

You're welcome.
Can't wait for the beta... I'm a massive Battlefield fan (except for Vietnam, that piece of shit) and DICE had better not fuck this up.
The public really should be ashamed of themselves for not supporting Bad COmpany. Hnads down the only "serious" shooter worth playing. Total game changer, with the destrutible terrain, as it brings the terrain into the game, unlike every other FPS, where the players are like ghosts, only affecting each other.

Of course, the Call of Duty zombies won't care about any of this, so it doesn't matter. $20 bargain bin 2 months after launch, guarenteed.

I didn't know it failed, but yeah, game's ****ing great.

EDIT: And I was kidding with my other post, but it's still offensive that the PC isn't receiving content.

It didn't fail...it sold five million+, and it's been stated multiple times by the developers it did very well on PC.

It failed in call of duty terms. BC2 is a top-tier product, but people are so brand conscious, that they won't buy anything with "EA" on it, especially as long as there are games with "Call" and "Duty" being released. Fucking lemmings.
