My fiancee was very nearly turned away at UK customs because she didn't have my phone number or address to hand (they were both on her laptop - which they refused to let her switch on).
And it's worth clarifying (another example of shitty journalism from the tabloids) that they're not 'banned' from the US. They've even been explicitly told they can reapply for a visa to re-enter.

Cogitationis poenam nemo patitur - nobody is to blame for thoughts. You cannot punish anybody for unlawful thinking.
Even if he thought about destroying america, he did nothing to do so.
Another 2 000 years old roman law rule threw to garbage by United States.

Pablo Neruda was also banned from entering the UK (damn Communists!)
As was Paul Robeson (how dare he support worker's rights!).
My point is - neither the US (we revoked Robeson's passport) nor the UK has the upper hand, and it's pointless to throw stones. This post wasn't as much a response to you (I realize you were speaking in jest), but against the guy who was suggesting that the "US deserve everything they get".

aren't they both convicted felons?
the Roman code of law is the foundation of our Western law system...

I know that. My point is that it doesn't mean a thing... it's a collection of ideals that are only called upon when those at the top want to.

You really have to be an imbecile for using this phrasing in a flight to the US or in an airport. You should know better that since 9/11 authorities are ultra touchy and paranoid about that.

Why, only because he's black?
*trollface*
Snoop only had some minor drug charges, nothing in the range of a felony.

The point is that most of our current law system is directly derived from roman law. I'm not talking about any "ideals" but simple transactions like buying your bagel each morning.
There is hardly any legal action that isn't somewhat derived from roman law. While roman law itself is no longer used for law interpretation (well, at least here) it remains highly significant.

And stuff like "culpa in contrahendo" is usual law lingo here.
Edit: I didn't take roman law ;-P, I had "constitutional law of the modern times". I fucking hate latin.

Most of the former Empire (with notable exceptions like Scotland and Louisiana) uses "common law", the roots and basic principles of which go back to Henry II, Alfred the Great, and Saxon customary law.
