I hope Apple will buy Poland some day.
I hope Apple will some day make an unlocked, open-source product with all that money. It would do a world some good.

Or maybe finally break the law uphold by Steve Jobs and donate some money to good cause.

Not that I approve of Apple's litigious behaviour, but I believe credit should be given where credit is due.

That was before the iPod appeared when they were only semi-evil.

Honestly, I can't wait for Apple to crash & burn. It only takes one other brand to become a bigger fad for cheaper before they lose most of their retarded hipster users. Honestly, the Apple customer base must be the worst in the world next to Bieber fans.
Apple is a fashion company, but instead of making clothes, they make electronics. Apple is in-style right now, but already it's becoming 'cool' to not have Apple products. I definitely agree they will burst and go back to being a niche company. You can only survive offering inferior products at a higher price-point for so long
If only I could go back in time to buy a shitload of Apple stock around the time the iPod was released. Almost a 30x increase. *sigh*

I'd also like to say this won't go on for much longer, but with how many consumer sheep are out there who really knows.

I highly doubt that'll happen. As much as Apple has been supporting open standards in the past, the direction they're headed now seems to be going towards the proprietary format of their iOS devices.

Ironically, to some hipster groups, Apple is "too fashionable" to be hip :p It's only time before it's considered tacky and their "fashion" angle comes around to bite them in the ass when no-one will be caught dead with their overpriced junk out of fear of being mocked.
Ah yes, Apple mobile devices, the "fad" that has kept going for more than 10 years. Now tell me - how long does something have to be popular to make it not qualify as a fad anymore?

I think it has to show signs of long-term sustainability. Blackberry/RIM was hugely successful for nearly a decade, and now look at it.

Computers were considered a "fad" for 50 years games are still considered a "fad" by many people.
Apple will be classed a fad while it's growth rate is above sustainable levels.
I think the internet is just a fad.
To assume Apple products is just a 'fad' is dangerous, imho. I dearly hate them for the damage they are doing to the technology world with the lawsuits they fired first.

But, Apple is a nimble, quick moving company that really, has some of the best businessmen and employees working at it. Many think it's the house that jobs built, and whilst that remains something that is largely thanks to him, people at the company look to be the best in their class. They built a hell of a online service JUST for their platform (I still think they took lessons from valve) created a laser focused emphasis on design which almost anyone has to admit is very pleasing to the eye. Then the marketing, they have excellent marketing which yes, sold to the sheeple, but made for very effective means of selling. They also have excellent customer care service, products are covered and replaced even if out if date (tech wise).

The end point I believe breeds the delirious loyalty you see for them. Really, I'd be a little biased if the company products I buy took care of me well and put in place a policy that befitted me greatly.

This company was in bad shape not so long ago, it took the combined efforts and smart thinking of a lot of people that propelled it to where it was. They did good buisness and now reaping the rewards. Apple, or it's products, aren't so easily dismissed as a fad. Not when you are valued more then a country, are still expanding in the face of a might like Google and Samsung, are DRIVING display technology for the benefit of all of us, and have tens of billions in the bank. What 'fad' ever had this much money?

IF they ,somehow, lose everything in the next 10 years they will just go to the sidelines, biding their time and then striking back like they have already done. Jobs handpicked the best in the industry for his company,Apple will most likely go after they are all dead. But hell, it's like a cult over there, other just as good people will be drafted in.

I don't use Apple products, I only ever played with an iphone occasionally and itunes is a bloated mess compared to amazon. However, the guys over there are doing what we would do in thier situation, good business, in fact the best in the tech industry.

They turned products into a lifestyle for all ages, shit like that isn't a fad. This isn't a games console, it's computers to mobiles to mp3 players to an OS.

They've lost the charismatic leader now though. The last time they lost Jobs it took 4 years before his planning left the system when it did it took 4 years to implode completely and have to bring him back. Apple is a company that was fuelled on drive and the main force behind it is gone now... the same happened to a lesser extent to MS when BG stepped down it lost a lot of its drive and focus and BG was a LOT less controlling than SJ...

All in all the test of Apple isn't this year nor next year while projects jobs green lighted are still in the system it will remain stable the test will be when they are gone and the new management has to deal with it. They have already caved to shareholders so that SH's can vote for the CEO and that's never a good thing for a company like that.
Ah, "worth" more than Poland, I see what they did there.

Actually... that is what it makes it fad. Apple became lifestyle, became trendy, hip, something awesome people cannot live without...
till the next thing comes and what was once awesome to have will be outdated.
Lifestyle... is a passing thing. some take months, some will take decade but lifestyle will change with time. The lifestyle is Apple tough. that in one way made them so so rich but in another is a danger because a company has nothing else to offer. It already lost its history market of designers, artists, movie makers... people who kept Apple in business for so long are moving away cause their products are too limiting.
Only one thing needs to happen for it all to fall... Apple must be seen as uncool. That will happen. It will be gradual of course over period of years but it will happen.
Can they survive that? of course. Like you said. lots and lots of innovative In my opinion it would require reimagining of the whole business of the company tough just like it happened 12 years ago.
Although not knowing what to do with 60Bln dollars does not sound reassuring.

If Apple is worth more than Poland in 2015, I'll bite my own shoe.
