Indeed. Our trains aren't bad though if you have lots of $$$ to spare. They offer private rooms to sleep in for around $500 and up...on top of your ticket. I remember, trains in Europe only offer rooms you have to share with 7 other people.

It's fun to fly into JFK as a US citizen and walk through that quickie line while everyone else has to get in the mile-long line of doom though. Makes you feel like a rockstar.

Nah, customs does that in the background. You just flash your passport like a boss and walk into the line with 10 people waiting, rather than the one with 2,000 people waiting.

Hahah, I had the same experiences when I was living in Japan. When I visited the US and came back to Japan, I got to go through the citizens/residents line instead of the tourist line which was 90% of the traffic. I would look at that line and think "Suckers!"

Last year I took a trip to Ireland and had to transfer at Heathrow. I can't remember if they made us go through customs or not. Heathrow was a nightmare tho and I will try to avoid it in the future.

Funny is, I was never asked if I intended to murder the president. Just some guy asking me how long I intended to stay in a bored voice. After all I've heard and been through, and with more than enough transfer time, that was kinda disappointing.
