"Remember: Don't Shoot Food"
Bloodwych was great in that resource management regard too. You had something like 16 characters to choose from to form your 4 man party and one was a reanimated skeleton who was a decent fighter AND who didn't need food so you'd just extended your provisions by a third.
it also had Coop! A second party of 4 could join in, that made rather special and tricky if you tried to stick together, less food to go around
I kick myself in the ass for this, but I forgot another one of SSI's classic titles. It about as much an RPG as I am a goddamn brain surgeon, but it was still a classic in its own twisted way. I am of course making reference to the fun, twisted, classic status of...
CyClones!
Just seen this site:

Nice find, artwork looks great.
When I find 5 minutes spare I'll look into this a tad further!
Thanks Andy!
Does anyone remember if you had to feed your party in Lands of Lore?
Funny you should ask that, I just downloaded a CD rip off Lands of Lore the other day, but I haven't installed or run the program yet.
Well my best memories of RPG with eating, would be the Might&Magic series. I really enjoyed those games. Played them so much the discs started to show issues.
I hope that GoG can indeed manage to get them sometime.

that would be awesome :)
Best one hands down, Elder Scrolls Daggerfall.
I played that game for 6 months, day after day. Just exploring and taking small quests. I still haven't beatin it. My save game sits in a zip file on my external HD begging me to unleash it's dark tenticle like power again. I say no for now but it sings like a Siren in waiting.

"Rest well this night, for tomorrow you say for the Kingdom of DAGGERFALL!" /Awesome atmosphere.
I am a terrible ElderScrolls geek, wrote one of the stickies on their forums and all that jazz. My god its a wonderful game.

JudasIscariot: Arx Fatalis is a more recent example of a dungeon crawler where you have to eat in order to live. Granted, it doesn't have a party but it still uses the same mechanics of food and water.

Don't forget Darkstone (a bit older than Arx Fatalis). A Diablo clone (but an excellent one nonetheless) where you could control a party of two. You had to feed your characters (and therefore, you had to buy food at the inn before leaving).

I love that game to death. I wrote and made so much material for that game. I was thinking of posting it but I'll probably wait until GOG gets the official greenlight to sell it. I don't understand why more people don't like it. It's an amazing game with so much freedom. Buy a house and setup some roots or just be a wandering adventurer. Walk by the light of the moon and be a werewolf or the shadows of the night and be a thief. Sure there are some bugs but they can be overlooked once you know how to manage them.
The coolest quest I ever got was from this merchant who had me delivering all this junk for him and paying me REALLY well. So I figured I'd keep doing it because there was some armor I wanted. I go on a typical quest of delivery but the guy I was delivering it to wasn't there. I thought, "Oh man another bug." I waited and thought for a moment and decided to open the package. There was freakin finger inside with a note that said, "My friend I'm sorry to put this upon you but I am cursed. I'm afraid I must pass the curse along to you." So everynight a mummy comes and disturbs my sleep. I kill it and get free gold and go back to sleep. I'd solve the curse but the mummy has been with me so long it feels like family. Stuff like that just blows me away about a game.
