If this says SecuROM and then uses GFWL I don't see how it could be any better than just using the Steam version.

If this says SecuROM and then uses GFWL I don't see how it could be any better than just using the Steam version.

Well, I bought the package. FEAR and FEAR 2 both need to be activated only, so... yeah. :(

I am assuming he meant activate online, given the frown. They didn't say DRM free though, so that was a given and I'm not sure why he thought otherwise.

Yeah, it was an online activation. It was extremely similar to EA games like Dead Space, actually, except I don't think you need to deactivate them like other games. No GFWL, though.
And as far as why I thought it'd be DRM-free, I didn't. I knew SecuROM would be involved, and I don't mind it, because it has never once done anything bad to my computers. I just hate needing an Internet connection to activate what I paid for. Games like the Penumbra collection on GamersGate also list SecuROM, but don't require online activations to play any of them.
