Did you click the link? While I wasn't around for the Insomnia sale, I read a bunch of pages of the Insomnia thread where everyone was so desperate for JK2 to move along as it was holding up the sale, that they wrote those glowing reviews. I was indicating that I was aware that JK2's reviews weren't legit and mentioned it in the OP as a joke.

However, I've read enough reviews here to realize that they're mostly unhelpful (for me at least). I've read too many nostalgia reviews such that I don't bother anymore, hence why I was asking for potential negative feedback on these games, things that might not show up in a let's play. Things like the mentions of saves not working at the end of NB (which I wouldn't watch an LP long enough to find out).

I can broadly agree with this - and further it to Deponia as well!

As to A New Beginning, I found the puzzles less annoying and the story a little more interesting, but it still wasn't high calibre at all.

When I say 'huge' I mean the Steam version was over a Gb and GOG just made you download the whole thing again, I didn't actually notice much difference in game, but it wasn't bugging out for me at that point IIRC and then proceeded not to
The only weirdness I noticed was, with the text on, a few red herring and background descriptions being still in the original German and even one or 2 in Russian Cyrillic!

And please don't call it JK2. To me JK2 is Jedi Knight: Jedi Outcast. It hurts both my brain and my soul to see the abbreviation being used for the abomination that Jack Keane 2 (supposedly) is.

Both have their illogical puzzles and incredibly beautiful art (CoS is in HD though, as opposed to WW's 1024x768)

WW's main character has a horrendously annoying voice.
CoS has awful animations.

I haven't play Chains of Satinav yet, but at the current price you can safely buy each of them.
Edna & Harvey is a true Indie classic which helped revive the almost dead P'n'C genre. It's a one man development and therefor visually not as polished as later titles, but the game has character. I really liked it.

The Whispered World features an anti-hero as main character (Cedric) and by that I don't mean the 80s looser type that comes out as a hero in the end (like in so many other games and movies). This guy has a unique slightly depressive character, that lots of people didn't like. It stands in contrast to a classic ever-happy looking, good-versus-evil fairytale world. There's no deep character development nor any further depth to it, it's just an ambivalent tone between setting and protagonist. Cedric's voice takes getting used to (in both German and English), but hey, that's who he is. The game is visually appealing and playable without any walkthroughs, but occasionally I spent some time running around searching for solutions. If you like the setting of old titles like Kings Quest and Loom you can safely buy it.

A New Beginning features a more comic like visual design, which reflects the time the story takes place. Also the emphasis on environment protection connects actual discussions with the time when green politics emerged. As the developers are from Germany where the green movement is still strong, the story might be influenced by their experiences and the history of their parents. Nothing wrong with that, but some people might associate this with lecturing and therefor dislike it. In some way it actually is, not least it won several juvenile game awards (while not being a dedicated kids' game). All in all it's less fairytale and more adventure. The gameplay is rather classic P'n'C. At this price, if you like adventures, you can go ahead. No major flaw.
