Theta_Sigma: Glad to meet fellow fans of the Maxx. Yeah, without spoiling the OP I love the dark themes present both in the series and the original comic. They really didn't censor anything for the TV adaptation and I love them for that. Sad story, but so, so good.
The head was real hit and miss for me. Yeah I liked it at times, but at other times it felt like it was just being creepy for creepy-s sake only. I had almost put it, but opted not to. But, all that being said, I can see why you'd find it good, it did have it's moments (even for me).
I'm sure you can still find links to it, either on YouTube or otherwise, and I'm pretty sure there were at the very least DVD cuts of the series. All of the MTV Freakshow block for that matter.
I am also glad to meet another fan of NIMH (it's a shame the sequel sucks) and the original animated Tolkien productions, I loved the animation and how well they kept the story together despite the considerable lack of time vs the Peter Jackson adaptations.
I remember I used to stay up late watching that series. I never did get into Aeon Flux though, not sure why.
IIRC that was the general time frame when MTV was still airing The State as well. Not a cartoon, but brilliant nonetheless. It's not surprising that most of the cast has gone on to do other work.
As far as cartoons go. I loved The Critic, same producer as the Simpsons, definitely deserved a longer run. Ren and Stimpy, has some of the best animation of anything in the last 30 years. Well, the first couple seasons before they ditched Spumco anyways.
Oh yeah, Sea Lab 2021 and Venture Brothers. IIRC Sea Lab 2021 pretty much just reused already created footage from Sea Lab 2020, but brilliant nonetheless.
I could make an extremely long list of bad cartoons.
EDIT: Inspector Gadget is a lot of fun.
