Spykez0129: So I was playing Baldur's Gate 1 on my main system when I was out relaxing in the living room with my laptop and felt the need to play it, but didn't want to go back into my room to play it.
KingofGnG: You lazy bastard, move your ass from the couch and don't ruin the gaming industry for the rest of us with all this crappy "cloud" crap! :-P
It's funny that you think something completely optional will "ruin gaming for the rest of us". KingofGnG you're a stick in the mud curmudgeon, while you're hardly alone in this, do you think your attitudes represent some sort of majority of gamers or computer users? Really? Do you think this? Because you actually don't, you're in a very small minority. This is fine, of course, just realize that it's on you to do the work to make stuff suit you since the majority actually doesn't want stuff the really specific way you want it.
jamyskis: Just as long as cloud saves are and remain optional (as Steam does and as Ubisoft learned the hard way that they should have done), I have absolutely no qualms with it. It would probably require some kind of background client or a patched DOSBox to synchronise the necessary files, but hell, why not.
GOG games are probably the best contenders for cloud-based saves anyway because they're the sorts of games you can run on a laptop. That's what I never get about Steam Cloud - the vast majority of games supported need a decent PC, and most people I know on an average income only have one gaming PC. I think there are three whole Steam games that I actually used Steam Cloud for: Half-Life 2, Plants vs. Zombies and Squarelogic. Everything else needed a proper gaming PC.
You're vastly underestimating people who game with their kids. You can easily end up with a couple of gaming PCs in the house if you have a couple of teenaged kids. The extra 600 USD to buy one is so worth it compared to the fighting over the computer (plus computers are able to do more than games, such as help with homework, so that makes it even easier to swallow).
