Profanity: Damn, I just want to punch a dragon in the face.
Too bad they removed that hand to hand skill, so now you can't become the ultimate Dragon puncher. Backstabbing a dragon didn't work either.
How much does decent gaming PC's cost these days? It's really time to get something new, haven't been able to play anything that comes out for a couple of years.

you probably get something better for the same price these days.

I bought mine in the summer for about €900 (from Finland, so you'll probably get a similar rig for less). I later installed an aftermarket Noctua CPU cooler which cost about €50. This thing runs every game I have tried on maximum settings, so I'd guess I'll be fine for the time being.
That's quite a lot converted into my currency, I'll be saving up forever!

Damn school, why u no pay me!?

Mind you, prices in Finland tend to be quite high compared to pretty much everywhere else.

But you also have the Euro? Electronics is about the only think that got cheaper after 2001 in Germany. I'm not even paying close to what I would have paid in Deutsche Marks for my computive goods. (Inflation, conversion, etc taken into account)

We do, but I was so young when the Euro came that I can't remember whether the price of anything went down. To my knowledge, almost everything became more expensive.

El_Caz: Why do I keep buying?

kavazovangel: Forget the damn sales! Sales will always happen. We have New Year sale, Spring sale, Summer sale, Autumn sale, Halloween sale, and so on... (taking Steam as an example).

Don't waste your money buying stuff that you won't play. Take the year off from buying new games, and complete the games you have already bought. All well, you will have a lot less games in the backlog, and in the next sale during the following year, you will be able to buy the games that you wanted to buy during that previous year (and even cheaper!).

Which leads me to my own backlog... I think I am done with around 2/5 of the games I have. The only game I bought during this Steam sale is Medieval 2 Total War: Kingdoms, so that I would be able to complete Medieval 2 'properly'.

Currently slowly clearing out all Steamworks games I have, labeling them as 'finished' so that I won't take a look at them until I complete all games I have. Goal for the remaining time of 2011? To clear out 3/5 of the games I own.
Yeah I challenge anyone to get through my backlog and hold down a job. I've long ago given up the notion that I'll ever finish them. I just keep picking and choosing the ones I want to play and enjoying what I can. Will I waste some money? Sure, but we're talking 3-5 bucks per digital game and 10-20 per console title (with an 1-3 new releases per year that I really want to play and nearly always do).

I probably spend more on beer than video games.

Awww, how cute ;-P

Well, to cut a long story short, due to the Euro imports gotten a lot cheaper for most European countries. Most compuer stuff is imported into the EU, there it has gotten cheaper. And that the Euro has made things more expensive is, at least in Germany, mostly a myth. The problem is, our income hasn't risen as much as in the years before the Euro, therefore everything seems to be more expensive. Well, it doesn't really matter in the end, it just sucks.
