All of the prominent members of the Legion gathered around a camp fire, with the ruins of Northbrook serving as a backdrop. The Ringmaster was the latest addition to the group, having been rescued from the dungeon underneath the city by Exile and his companions.

The sparks of the fire lit the cool night air. A man in a forest green cloak rose to his feet and flipped his hood back upon his shoulders. His eyes focused down into the burning embers as the dancing orange light shone upon the scars on his cheeks.

"Gentleman, ladies," he began, "for those who haven't had the pleasure, my name is Truz and I am the current guild chief. I will be serving the Legion in an advisory capacity only. It has come to our attention that the primitives have not been driven from this world. An assault on a nearby Nog camp left behind no survivors, though from what we have been told, it looks to be their work. Further, the Ringmaster bears testimony that he was possessed by a wicked spirit."

"There can be no denying," the Ringmaster remarked, standing by Truz' side, "they are in our midst. After consultation with Truz, and with several among you whose opinions we hold in high esteem, we have reached a consensus that the time has come to move the camp."

"Right," Truz added, nodding his head, "we must relocate; our position is untenable. Now is the time to make the move. I will open up the floor for discussion. The question that I pose is this: where shall we go?"

"All present have been provided with a detailed map of our surroundings," noted the Ringmaster, "if you do not have one, please see me. Our guild chief, Truz, is well-informed about the political situations abroad, the potential hazards for travel over particular plots of land and so on and so forth. Therefore, any questions about potential destinations should be directed his way."

"If I may, just one more thing," Truz remarked, patting the Ringmaster on the shoulder, "I want you all to bear in mind the relative size of our caravan and the fact that we will have many civilians to protect on the journey. Clearly we must relocate to a safer location until we assess the situation here in Northbrook, but we should limit our travel to a reasonable distance. That said, we will open it up now, please come forth with your suggestions."

WORLD MAP

______________________________________________________________________

The local map is attached to this post. I apologize for the bland nature of it (really, it's as bland as it could be, so use your imagination.)

Words in BLUE indicate either you presence, or the presence of an allied character.

Words in GREEN indicate a very generalized description of the area.

Words in BLACK indicate the presence of neutral characters, or those who have not yet demonstrated their opinions about your party.

Words in RED indicate the presence of hostile characters or monsters.

Words in PURPLE indicate other features of the area (such as items, smaller objects, open buildings, etc.) Often you can interact with these objects while in the same square.

Each turn you may move AND take any kind of action you would like (interacting with an object, using a skill, passing an item to an ally, etc.) The amount of spaces you can move varies by turn and depends on 1) your die roll, 2) your character's general speed and other factors.

If you're going to be absent for some time, don't worry, I will use your character for you that turn and you can jump back in whenever you're ready. No need to notify me, as I will automatically finish the round if it isn't finished within 24 hours. Additionally, if 3 out of 4 characters have taken their turns within, say, 16 hours, then I may just go ahead and move the 4th so everyone else is not held up (but never before the 16 hour mark.)

You can move in any direction including diagonals.

"Close range" or "short range" is any adjacent (touching) square. "Long range" is anything within your sight, though there are penalties based on distance (and when you're in close range, close range attacks/skills will tend to be more effective.)

If you have any questions, as always, just ask!

OOC: I'll sign up!

"May I suggest that we take the refugees to the area by dodge village. It is nestled between three rivers, which provide a sort of defense. Also our archer's can easily set up ambushes in the woods. However I have some questions Truz, how deep are those rivers and while I doubt it'l cause much political trouble, is there any sort problems that could arise from relocating there-at leasy temporarily,"
Vir stood aside from the group around the campfire, listening to the discussion while reflecting on his old faded map. He stepped forward to the outer edges of the gathering and caught Truz's attention.

"After Dodge Village we may continue along the river to Skip Village and Biya R'Zala, assuming they are neutral or friendly" Vir stated. "Though I should ask, who here knows of the Blood Peaks? A journey to Biya R'Zala would take us closer to them, and I've heard many rumours about them."

OOC: I figure any place with a red-coloured label "Blood Peaks" and dark towers on it would be kind of suspect, so I want to make sure.

OOC 2: Actually, should I just assume any place labelled in red to be hostile or hazardous? So, would I assume the Oma Dynasty to the north to be hostile? Vir would ask but I don't want him to look like an idiot.

"Me and some others have traveled through there going to Hammerhall to rescue the Knights of the Ton. We were attacked by demons so yeaahhh," Lucas replied.
OOC: Me too!

The cleric Arkades sat by the fire, massaging his leg. Setting his holy book aside, he peered thoughtfully at his companions. "I know little of this region, I'm afraid - I am not particularly well traveled. Nonetheless, these are good people, tradesmen and farmers, and I believe they would be well received by any village, though militarized nations might object." He paused for a moment, considering. "As a man of the cloth, I can often travel where others cannot. If we choose to venture through a populated region, we could clothe the people in robes. I am certain I could convince any potentially hostile groups that we are pilgrims starting a new monastery." He grinned from ear to ear, the firelight giving his white teeth a wicked gleam. "The church has long arms, and sharp talons - even though I am no longer part of their clergy, I can pass myself off as such quite easily."
"The priest speaks thoughtfully", Vir agreed. "It will be wise to make ourselves inconspicuous."

"Perhaps then we may travel to Northport, and obtain a ship. Evading our enemies may prove easier by sea, at least easier than through the swamps to the south." Vir shot a glance at Lucas.

"Agreeable it seems, so we go through north port, get a ship, and sail to Biya R'Zala?" Lucas said before strecthing. "Yes sounds like a good enough idea it seems."

Truz replies, "Areas with the suffix 'Village' are Nog settlements. As you may be aware, the Nog are a friendly, easy-going race, though they have suffered past persecutions. Available space may be limited there, but we shouldn't have much problem finding shelter there.

"In that area, the River is shallow," he adds.

Truz replies, "Biya R'Zala would have more room for us, and there's probably more trade to be had. That said, the Quenhali that dwell there are difficult to please. They may demand payment for our settlement."

OOC: I figure any place with a red-coloured label "Blood Peaks" and dark towers on it would be kind of suspect, so I want to make sure.
OOC: Absolutely true.

OOC 2: Actually, should I just assume any place labelled in red to be hostile or hazardous? So, would I assume the Oma Dynasty to the north to be hostile? Vir would ask but I don't want him to look like an idiot.
OOC: Hazardous or unknown. Hazardous in the case of the Blood Peaks, unknown in the case of the Oma. Despite the fact that they are only separated by a narrow strait of water, the Oma are a secretive, suspicious tribe of humans.

Are you signing up for the quest, Vir? Or just chatting about the destination? I'll add your character to the quest now. I just wanted to make sure you intended to sign up.

Truz nods in agreement, "We should not have a problem with any large settlements in the area, but if we have to pass through Quenhali lands, that might be a good idea. Thank you, Arkades."

MrWilli: "Agreeable it seems, so we go through north port, get a ship, and sail to Biya R'Zala?" Lucas said before strecthing. "Yes sounds like a good enough idea it seems."
Truz concurs, "If our intended destination is down river, it would make sense to travel by ship."

Truz looks at you inquiringly, "Sir, are you suggesting that we take the guild to sea? That is an interesting proposition. Perhaps we can settle in Northbrook, but maintain a large ship on the coast so that we may escape by sea if needed?"

"Quenhali...damn." The cleric thought for a moment. "There is no chance of keeping up a pretense that long, and were they to discover the ruse they might be dissatisfied with any prior arrangements." He pondered the problem, thinking deeply. "The Quenhali are known for strength and valor - is there anything your people can offer them that they cannot make for themselves? We aren't likely to be able to offer such a warlike race increased protection, but if you can make your people a resource they wish to protect out of their own interests, you might be in luck!"

"Ambassadors?" Lucas replied, "Even the most warrior like races need someone to speak for them and we are a varied group of people."

"Heh," muttered Truz, "This is true. There are skilled armorers among the civilians. They could work for the Quenhali. The guild could then reimburse the armorers. It would require a financial sacrifice on our part, but it just might work."

"Allow me to put three of the propositions up for a vote. If none of the suggestions win the vote, I will eliminate one option.

Option 1: Dodge Village. Advantages: Friendly people. The woods offer a defensive advantage, as does the river. Disadvantages: less trade.

Option 2: Biya R'Zala. Advantages: Swamps and the river are both advantageous defensively, as are the Quenhali if we can earn their favor. Access to an extra merchant or two. Disadvantages: Long trip, may be tough to earn Quenhali favor.

Option 3: Northport. Advantages: The town was devastated in the battle, but there are still defensive fortifications there that we may take advantage of in the future. Also, we may obtain a ship or fleet of ships for emergency purposes, taking the vulnerable to sea if all else fails. Plus, we might find some abandoned treasures lying around there. The sea offers protection from the north. Disadvantages: We are somewhat vulnerable from the south, there may be some enemies to clear out before we can control the town.

"What do you think, my fellows?"

OOC: It always seems like we end up with a 4th character no matter what I do, so who am I to mess with fate? You're welcome to join.

(Though a 5th is out of the question, it just gets crazy.)

Thank you for the offer =)

I'm glad we're going for four rather than three, though - not sure I'd be up for being a third of the party - now it's more like 0.5 out of 3.5.. =P
