The electronic entertainment industry labels virtually all its products as games or gaming accessories. When you think about it, this is bound to be inaccurate. Then again, we've really lost sense of what "game" actually used to mean.

It's worthwhile musing a bit on the subject...

I think it runs the risk of making gaming as a whole smaller, thus poorer for it. So I prefer not make the distinction if I can avoid it.

The problem is not that we have lost sense of what "game" used to mean, but that there has never been any agreement upon what "game" really is...

Bandwagon fallacy:
The general rule is that conduct or beliefs spread among people, as fads and trends clearly do, with "the probability of any individual adopting it increasing with the proportion who have already done so". As more people come to believe in something, others also "hop on the bandwagon" regardless of the underlying evidence.

This is why for example many voters go out and vote the most popular parties, because if it's good for others, it must be good for them too.
