Meh. First one looks pretty, but for a sewer-area, it looks really small, tight and claustrophobic
The second one just looks retarded, very DXIW-ish
It still has potential.
I've read nothing about this game, but is it going to be a format-whore? If so, I expect we'll have a shitty PC port, much like FEAR 2. The shots are *OK* but fairly meh.
Enjoy your Gears of War clone.
I love the optimism on these boards. It's two measly screenshots that likely will not be representative of what will be in the final game. It's more of a showcase of what tech the game is running on than anything.
Anyway, I couldn't finish the first Deus Ex because I just couldn't get immersed in the sub par graphical representation of the environments and characters. This new one looks all shiny and current gen-ish. If they keep with the game design philosophy of the first game, this should be interesting.
that link is filtered at work and i had no idea what dx3 stood for until someone spelled it out.... i'm expected any deus ex sequal to be crap, if i'm pleasantly surprised, awesome, if not, no biggie
I hope Deus Ex 3 shuts lot of mouths.
I think they look decent, if not exactly spectacular. And I look forward to the game. To be honest, I don't care if it lives up to Deus Ex or not. I'll take it for what it is, and just enjoy the fact that someone are making the kind of game that I love.
(and of course it's not going to be a Gears of War-clone)
The designers seem to have forgotten they are making a prequel. There's an odd clash between high-tech industrial and neo-Renaissance, all of which looks far more futuristic than the very near-future look of the first game.
I would be happiest with a graphical engine update to Deus Ex.
I got so confused right now. Eariler today, I noticed a game in a bargain bin that required DirectX 3. So I thought this thread was about that, and wondered what was so new about it.
But to stay on topic:
The screens... well they don't tell me anything. It looks alright, but static images might as well be paintings, since I haven't seen it in action. Just how I view those things. But we'll see how it is eventually, I guess.
The screens look really nice, IMO. Only problem I have is that the environments I have seen so far look more futuristic than the first game. Besides, DX3 is still going to have tentacles and that, to me, smells like fail; also, it will be a "multi-platform" release that will feel, be buggy like, and act like a console to PC port.

People seem to have a problem doing that. They cry for "MOAR INNOVATIONZ@2@@!!1" while at the same time poopoo-ing anything that's not EXACTLY the same as what they had before. Oh no, my Flaming Sword of +1 Integrity does 2 points of damage less than before, the balance is RUINED!!!

Personally speaking, the only "innovation" I want is a fun, engrossing game. I don't care about bloom, HDR, anti-aliasing or anything else that is optional. Just give me a good story, interesting game mechanics that fit into the gameplay and do not feel tacked on, and some decent AI. When DX3 comes out, I will buy it and try it. I hope I am not disappointed too much.

Urb4nZ0mb13: Enjoy your Gears of War clone.

Isn't like, every action shooter made in the past year or two a Gears clone?
