There's plenty of anime garbage. Boatloads and boatloads of it. But what I just listed are anime that range from good to fantastic.
Fell asleep for a few. On top of being garbage, it was boring, moronic garbage. Easily, hands-down the worst purchase I've made on GOG in I don't know how long. I just bought Leisure Suit Larry - Magna Cum Laude this week, the infamous worst of the series, and Hatoful Boyfriend makes me feel awesome about doing that, just by comparison.

I've played Planet Stronghold. Planet Stronghold is godsdamned art compared to Hatoful Boyfriend.

Additional - experiencing a whiplash dignity restoration. If I had found ANYTHING appealing about what I just suffered through, I would be well on my way to finding a new level of self-hatred. But I didn't. I knew it was garbage top to bottom, I played it, was proven ABSOLUTELY RIGHT, and now it's off my computer, never to be touched again.

Which is pretty incredibly bad. I still love them on one level for publishing Hotline Miami, but holy crap, is there a flip side to that coin. It's like in order to balance out their portfolio, they had to find something absolutely atrocious to balance out something incredibly good.

Paranoia Agent and Perfect Blue suffer from 'let's ape Philip K. Dick at his own game'. Exceedingly convoluted plots are not necessarily good.

Samurai Champloo suffered from, 'Yeah well, I'm gonna go build my own meiji restoration Japan, with blackjack and hookers and 19th century samurai rappers'. And from that point on, I couldn't get on it.

Cowboy Bebop I haven't seen yet. Only ever saw one episode on TV, I had a great nap.

Black Lagoon is another I haven't seen, but I hear it suffers from gun porn.

Trigun might be the most salvageable of them all, but again I haven't seen it. So I can't criticize it either.

The point is... the old adage "all software sucks", can be extended with a corollary of "all anime sucks". There is no fighting that.

Also proof of Japanese insanity, this was the most viewed anime of its season.

Anyway, I'm still waiting for Devolver Digital to bring the rest of the Serious Sam games here and possibly the expansions for Duke Nukem 3D. Mostly though, I'd like to know when they are going to release the Hotline Miami sequel.
