DiscipleJF: Anyone know if Retro City Rampage is coming back on flash?
avatar
skeletonbow: The only thing we know is that the flash sales will continue to cycle every day until June 30 and that any game that has been in the flash sale could randomly show up at any time while the promo is still running. No way to know for certain if a specific game that's part of the flash sale will show up for sure however.
Ah, cheers. Didn't know if they were cycling games out or not.

BlackThorny: ...
I always wanted to buy games on GOG in order to support those guys and the promos were indeed great, but what drove me to it was actually the community - when I buy a game on Gog I not only fund a gamer (as I feel like buying from steam serves the same purpose [not including titles with horrendous drm I don't want to support either way) I also get a spot in the company of fellow gamers in a vivid and heartwarming, like I never felt before when I bought anywhere else.
This is why I look forward so much for Galaxy, being able to share my experience with this wonderful community - in ways only steam could offer before (but the community comparison of Steam vs Gog is like comparing talk backs on a main street media newspaper article about an upcoming game VS a dedicated forum in a fan site).
Yeah, when I buy games here I always get at least a slight bit of a feeling of excitement for some reason that I *NEVER* get when I buy a game somewhere else. I never really thought about that before. When I buy a game here I either consciously or even subconsciously feel like I'm a being a part of something bigger, while when I buy from Steam, Greenman, Gamersgate, or any of the bundle sites or elsewhere, I feel like I'm buying a bag full of socks or underwear at Walmart or something - no emotive experience at all. I just never thought about that until now.

The GOG forums are also the first web forums not just for gaming, but for anything at all in which I have bothered to sign up for a login to post in, and actually have ended up using it with any regularity. I generally dislike web forums completely and prefer mailing lists, IRC and other more oldschool communication methods, but the GOG forums are just so good it's hard to avoid them. :) I hope the forums or some other new mechanism is present within Galaxy and integrated into the Galaxy client too. Oddly, I largely ignore forums/community of any other gaming distributors/sites out there. I rarely ever post or read Steam forums/groups and they seem to have very very low levels of communication happening, like people only bother to post there when they have game problems or something - no real "community" feel.

BlackThorny: * Another point were I wish I was in your shoes as I would love not missing on Free Tex, hoping to get the bundle in this sale then all is good :)
The other two games I really wish to get are Tales of the Monkey Island and the Penumbra I seem to keep missing all the time.
The Tex Murphy collection might show up again on the 29th if they do go ahead and do an encore sale as many of us predict might happen from past history.

Penumbra collection is ON FLASH SALE RIGHT NOW, don't miss it! :)

Neverfree: @Tarnicus: I want you to babysit me, next! :D Bahahah :) Lucky kids to be hanging around such a cool guy!

Tarnicus: lol thanks for the compliment :)

I'm the lucky one :) See attached pic from when I was sick and visited the 9 year old on her birthday earlier this year. I was sent it when I got home and it was one of the most touching messages I've ever received :)

trentonlf: My first PC was a 386 SX 25 I bought in 92 from radio shack, had 1 MB of memory and a 25 MB hard drive. Swore it would be more than I would ever need, LOL. At that time all I cared was that it was possible to play Civ 1 and Pirates, countless hours in those two games alone. Had that PC for a couple of years, then went into a 486 DX2 66 MHZ and really got into some fun games :)

Somehow I never had an Amiga. Played all the Nintendo's, Atari, Commodore 64, PC, and Sega. Old school gaming, gotta love it ;)
avatar
Tarnicus: Commodore 64 vs Apple 2C arguments were then as Steam to GOG arguments are today. Obviously the Apple 2C was better :P

Hmm that reminds me of Atari ST vs Amiga 500 arguments and console vs console and PC vs Mac arguments and...I'm noticing a pattern here. I bet our ancestors used to argue about which trees were best to make clubs out of, and then someone made a spear and won the argument lol

I also remember thinking that the hard drive on my 486 was so huge that I'd never need another ever again! lol My how times change, and perhaps one day we'll look back on this thread on the inside of our eyelids when we are HUMAN V2.0 full of cybernetic implants that will be compulsory and wonder why we needed external hardware in the first place :)
Awwww haha, too cute!
So we're going into the weekend and the conclusion of this long hot Summer Sale. Is anyone still managing to hold off on some wanted games until the last day, in order to see if GOG does some kind of super-blowout at the end?

Banished of course ;-) hope it will be more discounted or maybe free for all.

Took the plunge on the Action Platformer bundle before it left. Already had Valdis Story, so getting the other three was pretty cheap. Already had Dust on Xbox360, but Unepic looks awesome and Guacamelee looks interesting, so on to my self they go!

While I have held out on getting some games, it's not because of that. I just had to wait until I got paid again. :P

I enjoyed the Sale and wanna keep a little bit of this excitement just until the end. So I'm waiting to buy Banished until the last day. Save the best for last... Maybe there will be a surprise with this game which I can take - we will see. And even if not - it was a great time and I am thankful for this "event" and the freebies GOG spent.

damn you, despite staring at it many times I was feeling good about having resisted it :p I have Valdis so convinced myself I didn't really need Dust, and although Guacamelee looks cool I wasn't convinced about Unepic. These unsplittable bundles are evil!

Yeah. I was going to pass on Dust, since I have it, but it was cheaper not to. :P

You can try to find someone who already has the bundle and trade for just one game, since they can buy individual titles out of the bundle at the bundle price. I've done a few of those during this sale myself. But yes, it can be a nuisance to have to go through that rather than just being able to grab the one you want yourself. :)

Yeah, I am waiting for Banished. (and payday ;-) ) If it comes on at a deeper discount or free, I'll get it then. If it goes free, and I catch it I might buy a couple extra copies for giveaways. If not free but discounted same thing. We shall see. I'll probably be at work or on the road when it comes up for sale. lol. BTW I don't want anyone to gift me this if I miss it. I have such a backlog of games, that missing one won't kill me and I'll either catch it at full (GOG) price or on another sale.

I'm holding off, waiting for Banished as well. Otherwise I'm just trying not to pay too much attention to the sale anymore. My wallet hurts.
Banished is the only game I am waiting for now. If is shows up on sale great if not then will most likely pick it up at half price. Doesn't really matter to me that much. I've already spent too much this sale, so what is another $10?! ;-)

It did cross my mind :) I did that few times during the winter sale, but there seems to be less enthusiasm for trading now. It doesn't matter, there might well be one more chance and I've no doubt these games will be v. cheap again in future promos.
