lubwak: I don't understand why there is no variation in the discounted games. I mean, I bought the games I wanted a long time ago. I have no motivation to come back now, yo know.... I think they made a bad decision. They could at least swap some of the games from time to time.
They have 700 out of 755 total games in the catalogue on sale for 50% off by default, 228 or so games coming up in flash sales for discounts anywhere from 60-90% in rotation, roughly 1/3 of the entire catalogue, plus they've given 4 free games away so far and another on the way. Plus 8 special video trivia contests to win more free games.
Seriously... that is not enough? Pretty awesome deal if you ask me. Blows away the Steam sale IMHO and any of the other big retailer's sales I've closely watched. I got about 42 games from GOG so far, and about 6 from Steam total (spread across different retailers). 5 freebies from GOG, 3 or 4 freebies gifted to me by generous people out of the blue, 3 or 4 games won unexpectedly in a few GOG forum giveaways....
Call me crazy, but this is the best sale GOG has ever done that I've experienced since joining the site, and better than any sale I experienced at any other retailer, has the best active community above any other gaming retailer IMHO, the most generous community members, and they give away more free games and other special things too in my experience (both GOG and the community).
Personally I think when people complain about it, it is a total sign that they are doing an awesome job because I subscribe to the concept that if you're interacting with the general public and /nobody/ is complaining about something, then you're not reaching enough people for them to care about what you're doing. Bickering and complaining is a sign of success. :)
Complain away folks, and we can all sit back and watch the GOG empire grow to Galaxy sized proportions and achieve much success. ;)
