Stilton: What have you folk picked up that you might have passed over before?
IAmSinistar: Excellent post. For me, the ones I grabbed that I have glossed over before include
IL-2 Sturmovik,
Super Puzzle Platformer Deluxe,
Subwar 2050, and
Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena. Some of these I got this time thanks to doing as you did and investigating them further (plus some great feedback from other users), whereas some are of the "splurge on it because at this price it's worth the gamble" category. These sales are very good for expanding one's gaming horizons.
I had a bootleg of Subwar 2050 a long long long long time ago. I think it was 1995 or so perhaps but my computer was wayyyy too slow so I never ever did get to see the game. :) I should buy it from GOG some day to check it out perhaps on one of those "whims" although I think I filled my whim plate this time around hehe. I do really like the Riddick games although the slight visual distortion throws me off for a few minutes when I play them. Probably just need to google for how to tweak that though or check the GOG forums perhaps, not a huge issue though the game is pretty nice looking and I found it fun. Sturmovik is a top shelf for the genre and timeframe and can be pretty deep due to the level of sim, but that's cool for any true sim enthusiast.
I got quite a few whimsical splurges this time around including the Age of Wonders bundle, Spellforce bundle, Settlers bundle, Broken Sword bundle, Theme Park (completing the Bullfrog bundle), Guild bundle, Runaway bundle, Race Driver: GRID, Driver Parallel Lines, Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy), Scratches, Montague's Mount, Eador: Genesis, Sherlock Holmes: Secret of Silver Potatosack or whatever it's called,. It looks like I bought more games and bundles on whims (some from my "hrm maybe check these out some time" list, others from total random whim - than I bought games I really really wanted or had notable interest in. Hehehe.
