Shiroshibal: Can anyone recommend the Leisure Suit Larry Bundle? I've never really played any adventure games except for the Deponia series, which I quite enjoyed actually..
Also, do games from the big bundles ever go on sale seperately? I've been wanting to get HOMM3 and NWN2, since those are the games I'm most interested in their respective bundles, so should I wait or just grab them now at 60%?
Hope this is not too off-topic, I thought I'd maybe get an answer more quickly here, than in the respective threads to the games, since the sale ends rather soon..
Thx for any help :)
before we talk about larry...:
no, the games in the bundles haven't - as far as i've seen - gone on sale separately. when the bundle goes up, you can grab the games from it separately, but you take a bit of a savings hit when you do that.
larry can be kind of goofy fun. however, the games are...kind of riddled with crazy design issues. if you are even at all curious, then i'd suggest that you find a let's play and at least watch a little bit of that.
a couple of things to be wary of in those games:
there can be instant death traps: especially early on in the series.
you can get into unwinnable situations: again, especially early in the series.
there's at least one maze [that i can think of, off hand in one of the games.]
also, becasue they were made over a span of about ten or so years, the graphics are going to vary in quality quite a bit. early games may look /terrible/ to you and the later ones start beginning to look palatable, though dated. [lots of "very 90's" style.]
having said that:
they're fun games. al lowe /loved/ humour and /loved/ injecting it into games. so you're in for a fun time.
they're /very/ colourful: becasue they were made in the 80's and 90's, they don't suffer from "brown shooter syndrome."
they have quite fun soundtracks: al lowe was a teacher of music and this sort of finds it's way into the games. once you hear the title theme, you're not likely to forget it.
the best thing to do, if you're on the fence, is to go and watch gameplay footage for these, because your mileage will /very/ definitely vary from person to person.
