IAmSinistar: Don't feel bad, I didn't recall them being on sale before either. Grabbed them all up this time around.
Cool, and thanks mate. Gotta love the community. :)

Anyway, I'm pleased it wasn't all wrong:
avatar
skeletonbow: Correct. I surfed through past GOG promotional mails and the Settlers games usually go on sale for 50% off max and only a couple of times that I could find. Most of the other mailings that mentioned them were the Release announcements for each game. This appears to be the absolute cheapest any of them have shown up at least since Dec 2012 which covers the whole time they've been here it appears. That's why I'm a little undecided ... best price yet but um... hrm... hrm... argh... hrm... :)
Ha ha... yes the offer is quite irresistible. And thanks a lot for going through the archives! That was most helpful. :)

No prob. I have to admit though that it was a bit unsettling at first, but then I thought about it for a while my mind settled on going for it, so I picked up The Settlers bundle and hope the games turn out to be fun, and if not I'll just have to settle for it.

Cyberevil: Hmmm I'm not sure there is anything left I feel I must buy at this point... There's a few I'm curious about, like Tropico 3, but I really hate it when the trailer has no actual game play in it. It tends to make me real suspicious.
avatar
ericmachado70: Have you ever played any of the tropico games? If not its really good if your into builders plus you can enact edicts like wiretapping or literacy program but anything you put in law has an impact on any of the many factions that inhabit the island. Also each structure has its own settings like the lumber mill you can clear cut but that impacts the environment and the environmentalists wont be too happy about that plus health risks or selective cutting but that's less lumber which in turn means less profit or furniture being built. Downside....... Music after an hour I go crazy:D

Awwww I don't know about you guys but Im just waiting for midnight when my direct deposit kicks in=) Btw is anyone going to Comic Con in New York this year?
After watching a bit of it just the character creation might be worth $3. Pretty funny with all the traits I went ahead and picked it up

He he... at the very least you'll have an extra copy of Heritage of Kings (I just read your post). ;)

Yeah, but that's ok as I've got a buddy's computer here also and have talked to him about how cool the game is in the past and suggested it'd be something that might be fun multiplayer so he can install the DVD on his machine now perhaps and we can try out multiplayer. Then I don't have to fuss around with the DVD hehe. :)

txnca: Hey LynetteC, have you ever played Sacred 2 with or without the expansion pack Ice and Blood? It's a much bigger game and it is very good as well. I hear they are working on Sacred 3 although I am not sure it will ever come out and be like the previous two.
Yes, I have Sacred 2 on CD, but no expansion although I'm always on the lookout for it.

You can get notified when it is on sale anywhere from setting a notification on it on here if you like:

Can anyone recommend the Leisure Suit Larry Bundle? I've never really played any adventure games except for the Deponia series, which I quite enjoyed actually..

Also, do games from the big bundles ever go on sale seperately? I've been wanting to get HOMM3 and NWN2, since those are the games I'm most interested in their respective bundles, so should I wait or just grab them now at 60%?

Hope this is not too off-topic, I thought I'd maybe get an answer more quickly here, than in the respective threads to the games, since the sale ends rather soon..

Thx for any help :)

Generally speaking, yes. With a specific game, it depends on the game. Have a look at isthereanydeal.com for the titles you're interested in and click on the title then on history to get a price graph of the price history on any retail sites and you can get an idea how often the given title goes on sale on GOG or anywhere else for example. You can also set up a notification to get alerted if it goes on sale anywhere in particular.

When games go on sale individually though the discounts are usually lower than when they appear in bundles during seasonal promos like this though. If one of them does show up on individual sale it'd probably be for anywhere from 50-75% so 60% off right now is pretty close to what you'd likely get later on in a one off. Another option is to hit the classifieds thread in the forums and post a list of the games you have that you want to trade and list the games you're interested in above as "wants" and see if you can make a trade deal with someone.

before we talk about larry...:

no, the games in the bundles haven't - as far as i've seen - gone on sale separately. when the bundle goes up, you can grab the games from it separately, but you take a bit of a savings hit when you do that.

larry can be kind of goofy fun. however, the games are...kind of riddled with crazy design issues. if you are even at all curious, then i'd suggest that you find a let's play and at least watch a little bit of that.

a couple of things to be wary of in those games:
there can be instant death traps: especially early on in the series.
you can get into unwinnable situations: again, especially early in the series.
there's at least one maze [that i can think of, off hand in one of the games.]
also, becasue they were made over a span of about ten or so years, the graphics are going to vary in quality quite a bit. early games may look /terrible/ to you and the later ones start beginning to look palatable, though dated. [lots of "very 90's" style.]

having said that:
they're fun games. al lowe /loved/ humour and /loved/ injecting it into games. so you're in for a fun time.
they're /very/ colourful: becasue they were made in the 80's and 90's, they don't suffer from "brown shooter syndrome."
they have quite fun soundtracks: al lowe was a teacher of music and this sort of finds it's way into the games. once you hear the title theme, you're not likely to forget it.

the best thing to do, if you're on the fence, is to go and watch gameplay footage for these, because your mileage will /very/ definitely vary from person to person.

Sacred 3 is on its way for an August release (1 and 5 for Europe and America respectively).

txnca: I think they through that in there just to piss us off! lol
their line of reasoning was something like: "they didn't just want to make straight up adventure games. there needed to be some twitch sections to mix it up a bit." which is a bit weird, really, because sierra was in the business of making mostly ADVENTURE games not TWITCH games ;)
I've grabbed a couple things here and there, but I'm probably going to pick up Syndicate Wars next. I love Syndicate, but I've never even played SW. I only have a handful of bucks to spend (until I get paid this Friday). So, I'm probably not going to grab the Bullfrog bundle unless it's available then as well, but I might pick up SW beforehand anyway. It's not like I'll be punished against getting the bundle if I get it now and then decide to grab the bundle later (if it's still available).

speculation is that:
the bundles will all rotate in again, one at a time past today and there will /probably/ be another blowout day [maybe the 29th?]
so, if you can hold out until then for the bullfrog bundle, i'd do it.
OK, that’s me done for this sale. I can’t compulsively check the site every hour anymore. I have no idea how I’ll fill that hole…probably just scroll up and down my massive wall of games in admiration until the weekend when I actually have time to play something (and wind up playing Dark Souls II, but no matter).

The haul:

Blitzkreig Anthology
Total impulse buy. I will never play this game. I feel compelled to get 2 just to be a completionist. I’ve only played through 2/3 of Startcraft II Wings of Liberty. Why would I start another RTS from 9 years ago?

Bloodrayne 1 & 2
Why? Bah, they were less than 2 bucks each. Even if I play each for an hour and they completely suck, it’s still worth it. Right?

Might & Magic 7, 8, 9 + Crusaders of M&M
Needed 7 & 8. Cheaper to finish buying bundle than buy them separately.

Ishar compilation
Mmmm, another dungeon crawler.

Summoner
I’m a sucker for any isometric Diablo-like. I will probably only play a couple of hours.

King of Dragon Pass
Impulse buy forced upon me by the good word of the GOG community.

Drod
Bought this on the good word for it on NeoGAF. Played an hour of it already and really enjoyed it, despite the simple graphics. I’ll give it more time…some day…

Disciples II Gold
I need another fantasy strat like I need a hole in my head. I haven’t even played HOMM3 yet!

Sin Gold
Always wanted this when it came out, never had the rig to run it. Loaded it up to see what the fuss was about. Man, have the graphics aged. Looks like DOOM to me. Will give it a little more time just for giggle…one day…

Clive Barker’s Undying
Impulse buy. GOG made me do it.

Master of Magic
Total Biscuit made me do it. I’ll give it a go, it’s supposed to be a classic.

Rune Classic
I actually loaded this one up and gave it about a half hour. Really loved it, can’t wait to set up a game pad with it and dig in…some day…

Why doesn’t the Gothic bundle include 1? Would have been an insta-buy.
So, up to 92 games now. I still might spring for the rest of the D&D collection…

What did you get? What will you play first? What are you playing now?
