stg83: Do you have most of the games from the Flash sale already or are you waiting for a particular game to appear there?
Let's just say that my ever-growing wishlist was annihilated for the most part from the Spring Insomnia+summer sale combo.

Ah I see, well that certainly explains it. :)
FTL is strategic in the decisions you make in spending your limited resource called scrap. Many upgrades one can make and stores have random items you can buy with it. How one uses his scrap is very strategic. This makes it a different kind of strategy game, if that makes sense.
All right, thanks for the information, everyone! I'll give it a bit more thought and maybe I'll grab it before the time runs out.

j0ekerr: On other news: I missed Sang-Froid. Does anyone know wether the games will cycle like the last flash- sale, or this time they will be a one time deal?

The Insomnias are a mixed bag for me. I like the adrenaline of the first round and the upbeat attitude of the forum as the games get rolling and people get into the swing of things, but there comes a time when nature intervenes and I just have to get some shut-eye. I'm a creature of habit and I like my bed - if I don't get my usual 30-40 hours of sleep a day I feel perpetually wasted and like I'm an old engine living on one or maybe one and a half cylinders. To compensate for unwanted impulse purchases (and it has taken time and application on the Insomnias to achieve this) I have a heavily revised wishlist which I know well and can rely on, and by now, two Insomnias and numerous other sales down the line, I have amassed the majority of the games I really want. I've done my time, I suppose is what I'm saying, and being a veteran of these things now I can appreciate this sale's sedate pace. Next time an Insomnia comes along I'll feel less stressed because of being prepared (and experienced) and I'm sure I'll enjoy it, while getting most of my sleep quota into the bargain.
About impulse purchases during insomnia sales, the last game I bought was Driftmoon during the previous one, in May. Was something thrown there on the wishlist in a sort of "what the heck" way, saw it show up at 85% off with few copies going fast, I nabbed it... Then read a few reviews carefully and went screw that, bad call. And that counts for a fair amount of the reason why I haven't bought anything else since. Admittedly, the increasing anger over regional pricing makes up most of said reason, but this also counts. Usually am very careful with money, that was a bad call, pissed me off at myself, now I'd double and triple guess any urge to buy anything else (assuming no "regional priced" companies are involved in the "anything else", as that'd make a purchase out of the question in the first place).

So as an example now, contrast with Sacred 2. Knew it was barely a decent game, but saw $3.99/€3.19 at the 80% off said hm, let's look into it, is there any particular reason why I'll actually run away from it? Select 5 or 6 reviews, start reading nicely, see the saving issue (single save on exiting and when you reload you're placed at the closest respawn point to where you were) and the (apparently gradual?) respawns everywhere. Yeah, no thank you.
Now wouldn't have had time to do that in an insomnia-type sale. But, like I said above, now I'd just give up on anything that'd fly past before I'd look into it carefully if it won't show up again, unlike before.
Empire Earth: Gold Edition is now on sale for $1.19 (80% off), the next game on flash sale will be Real Myst Masterpiece Edition

IAmSinistar: Agreed. It's seriously good. And the devs made the Advanced version a free upgrade here. Plus you can switch the Advanced changes off on the menu screen, and play the original way too. That's how I'm playing for now, until I beat it that way.

j0ekerr: THIS IS how FTL should be played.
Looolz, that video was hilarious, and it's actually being pretty truthful about what the game's about. I generally don't enjoy roguelike games, but FTL has already entertained me for plenty of hours, and probably a lot more to come. Awesome game, definitely at this sale's price!
I'm pleased to see Real Myst making an appearance.
Yeah, it`s fine to see, that GOG are constantly switching promo conditions to avoid repetition, and because of that this time it is not so sleep deprivation inducing as by those classic Insomnia sales.
Actually main reason for that is the fact, that even if you miss the game in it`s flash deal window (which has in some cases really extreme discounts), you can still get it at anytime with pretty generous 50% off - obviously this takes away most of the intensity of the previous sales.
And maybe it is not only my case, but another contributing factor is, that after some time majority of the deals start to have the familiar "Owned" sign on them instead of a price :)

Anyway, as I just checked at MaGog, there are currently 600+ games at the 50% discount level. And I think that`s quite unexpected, as I don`t remember any similarly massive sale action in the past.
My initial theory was, that maybe GOG will try to surprise everyone, and there will be maybe only 1 round of flash deals this time. When you consider, that this promo will take 14 days, and games switch every 40 minutes, that`s 504 deals (+/- a few %).
And that was quite suspicious number, too similar to the total count of games at 50% discount level - taking into consideration, that most probably there won`t be separate flash deals for games included into the daily bundles.
But there were already some deals of games, which currently does not have any discount, and they started to throw there some of those weird movies too.
So my theory is probably shattered. Now I start to think, that only a subset of all discounted games will appear in the flash deals - the question is only, how big. I personally would guess 2 rounds of flash deals this time, unless they suddenly change the rate of games appearing in them.
I'm wondering if we'll get an Apogee Bundle. But probably not, since the base prices of the games are among the lowest on GOG already.

I'd rather wait at least till we are halfway. Then, the money will start talking.

Yes, there are a number of titles I still plan on picking up in this sale, but am going to wait first to see if they come around through the Flash Deals. Not that I have a problem with the 50% off price, I just like the endorphin rush that accompanies getting the best bargain. :)

Traditionally during the winter sale just about the entire catalog is 50% off. More recently with the major summer sale introduced, that happens then as well. So not unusual to see it expand to each season's major sale, and possibly then to each monthly major sale as well. Refer to what I was saying yesterday about shops struggling to steal each other's ever more fickle audience.
